Finally stopped in Maidstone. But looking at the radar I think I might get more. Probably got 2cm from this last hour and a half downpour!

The emotions of the streamer!
Got excited as that big lump was coming straight for Maidstone only to change direction at the last moment, I can see the snow over the valley but the streamer is moving south now, aaargh! (Haha)
That's streamers for you, you either get it or you don't!
The cold spell will be ending soon, so make the most of it people, much better than last year
Where are you then. I'm near Studios and it's throwing down! Must have had 2cm so far its that heavy

I apologise to those people who have very little snow or none at all. But wow!! That is insane! My car is covered again and my road. All the trees are being covered nicely as it's not getting blown off them! Nit sure 2018 snow was as heavy as this!! Isle of sheppey will be cut off if it's windy?

This is as heavy as Sunday. I cant believe it! Chris74 in Sheerness says it's really coming down there so we must be getting that in next half hour. Can it be heavier....? Massive flakes!
-
Well I feel very lucky. It really hasn't stopped for last 2 hours. Must have 2-3cm at least. Still very windy. Not sure I'd like to be up the top of Detling, Bluebell or Boxley hills. Hope most people on here can experience some of what l have.

I'm just south of Maidstone at 125m altitude - started settling around 7am and has snowed quite heavily since then. It's piling up along our east facing fence.
In 2018 we got about 20cm so I think my location usually gets lucky in this setup.
I'm fairly near Detling so I think it comes over the downs and dumps on both us me first then you. Sheppey is getting pasted so we're get what they had half hour later. Looks like we're right in the firing line looking at the satellite. It just keeps on coming! Yes we had 20cm in 2018 as well. We might get near it if this continues for next 12 hours. Which it could!

Really starting to get heavy here. With the wind it's blowing about. I can see it starting to pile up against the window. Maybe just under a cm. Which is pretty rubbish but the fact it was wet at 8 this morning it's amazing!

Definitely have a covering now. Like others said not much on the roads but it's trying. Certainly not heavy snow all the time but occasional heavier bursts. Very windy still.

Temp -1.5 now and still dropping.
Mainly light/moderate snow.
I'm in the Amber warning zone but trust me when I say we will not be seeing 10-15cm widely at this rate.
More like 1-3 .
Hope I'm wrong but it would really need to pick up intensity..
That's amazing to be on the coast and be that below freezing. In Maidstone I'm only just below 0°C.

Just starting to get a bit heavier in Maidstone. Things turning white. We have been on the edge of the heavier stuff all morning but a definite move west in last couple of hours.

Having the heaviest snow of today in Maidstone. 15 mins of this and it'll be twice as much as already fallen with that fine stuff. The last hurrah? Just getting dark so won't be able to see it soon with no street lights.
-
After an hour of tiny flakes we've just had a burst of heavier stuff for 5 minutes. Have barely 1cm covered all the frozen rain. Not much more to come. Bring on spring!
-
1-2 out of 10 here in Maidstone. Thank god that rain has stopped. Not sure wind is as bad as it was. Cars being covered now.

Just trying to work out what time that lot should get to me here in Boxley (Maidstone), need to pop out for an hour or so but don't want to get caught out if it starts snowing heavy....real dilemma
Just seen a few flakes and I'm near jct 7 M20. All falling on a thick sheet of ice.

Since 2010 I’ve been chasing the snow like many here, where I live in Bearsted we’ve had a good 8 to 10 inches.
This morning while driving to the office me and snow had one hell of a falling out, but I’m home now and are friends again lol
from 7 this morning until a farmer pulled me out 4 hours.
When I was driving along the road there was a small layer of snow, car stared spinning the wind and then snow falling created drifts over 1m all within an hour between 7 and 8
Wow! I live near Bearsted. It wasn't near there though was it? We had a bit this morning but nothing that would give a drift like that. Unless you were on the downs?

Amazing pictures, there!! Wasn't it on the Hoo Peninsular, where a train got stuck in a huge snowdrift, in Jan 1987?I remember, the photos!! If memory serves, didn't British Rail buy a specially adapted locomotive, with snowplough, from Norway, only to get it back to the UK, to find it was the wrong gauge?
For Kentish folk, now in a snow mood. See link below and reminisce, about Jan 187. Enjoy!!

I'm old enough to remember that. I was commuting to London from Gravesend. A nightmare! I would say this cold spell has lower daytime temperatures. I'm sitting in my car in Maidstone area and it is -3.5c. Amazing!

How does that compare to last night l wonder. Certainly lots of activity out there. Should intensify a fair bit by the time it hits our coast?
-
Fairly heavy shower in Maidstone. Small flakes but wind has picked up compared to this morning. Radar shows I'm in the right place again. Had almost 8" 20cm in the end today. All shrunk a bit when sun came out.

That is slow. It does look like it's heading right for you. I hope it gets you. A reward for your patience.

South East, London and East Anglia regional discussion - 8th February onwards

I thought we were a bit lucky lunchtime with 2cms out of nothing. Really threw it down. That then melted a bit in the sun. This evening we've had several heavy showers. Way heavier than anytime this spell. Must have 3-5cm this evening. The fact it's -3c everything is covered. Not sure about main roads though. If that's it for this snowy event them I'm satisfied thank you! Wish everyone could have this. So weird how localised it is.
