Had snow in west Suffolk at some point overnight - a light covering and still on the ground. Foggy as well, which is weird.
-
Heavy snow in Norwich, sticking in places too!
Glad you got your snow at last !
-
Totally confused now
Weather warnings have been removed for Suffolk yet it is still hurling it down with a mix of rain and snow. Roads are flooded already. Why have even the warnings for heavy rain here been removed? Temp is dropping - now 3c.
If the front is moving out to the east, is it going to hit an invisible brick wall as it leaves Cambridgeshire and disappear into the abyss of lost weather?

Wet snow here in West Suffolk now at 4c - has been 4c for hours now.
-
Yeah. Has been very poor snow wise.
Just had a very heavy snow shower in west Suffolk - huge flakes!! Down to a gentle fall but don't think it will stay long, it's 4c.
-
Has west Suffolk had its quota for today, or is more expected before breakfast tomorrow?
Hard to tell from the radar - and talk everywhere is of the Thames Streamers and the snow in Kent - but not sure how many showers are expected off the North sea inland, or even travelling up from the south.
Would appreciate a heads up on what is coming, if someone could spare the time
Thanks
EDIT - ignore me - wrong area Mods please delete xx

The snow has finally arrived in West Suffolk. Lots of moderately sized flakes whipped along by the breeze falling quite quickly!
Hello stranger !!
It was a hefty shower indeed - and another one as I type

I have only one thing to say in a ramping thread..........
BRING ON THE SNOW !!!!

Great pictures. Isle of Wight is a beautiful island.

One of my favorite films!
Daft in places, (think they call it poetic license ) but amazing snow scenes and special effects.

Didn't have any lying snow today but had to make do with an afternoon of frequent snow showers.
They turned to rain of course, as they do, as night and the temperature fell low enough for it to build up.

Just noticed your location Paul B - I expect you are also hoping the precip band can make it across to the coast.

Sorry about above post - the quote button doesnt seem to like me, cannot make it quote Paul properly

--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Paul B @ 9 Feb 2007, 07:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Morning all, things have changed slightly for today, and rain is expected to affect many parts of Southern Britain. Indeed, some quite heavy outbreaks of rain are already affecting southwest England and South Wales, and this area of precipitation is expected to slowly spread north and eastwards. As it does so, it is likely to turn to snow again, especially over Wales and the Midlands. There could be some significant accumulation once again, with up to 15cm over higher areas, and more generally 2-6cm.
This whole area of rain, sleet and snow will slowly continue to spread northeastwards throughout the next 24 hours, gradually introducing less cold conditions in from the southwest. Therefore snow over lower areas of Wales and the Midlands will largely turn back to rain by this time tomorrow.
A snow risk continues for much over the weekend over higher ground in Northern England and for Scotland, with Sunday possibly seeing the most snow in parts of Scotland.

I'm glad you can get on to the Met Office website: I can only get occasional entry, and little or no navigation within it; the rest of the time I either get my ISP (AOL)'s timeout page, or a met office notice & apology explaining that the site's unavailable because of high visitor demand. I've been trying all afternoon.
I will restrain from ranting about this here, as I have already done so in the media forecasts section of the forum. But could anyone who has managed to get on tell me what the latest warning/forecast says - there was apparently an update just after 4pm?
This is not just idle curiosity, by the way: my girlfriend desperately needs to know the latest position before she leaves work, as she may have to cancel a load of patient's appointments tomorrow morning (she's a clinical psychologist), not to mention her child minder, if there are likely to be substantial traffic delays in North or West London between 7.30 and 10am
This is the latest on met office site:
This is an update to the warning issued on Tuesday 6 February 2007 The Met Office is expecting a period of heavy snow to develop across much of Wales and parts of Southwest England early on Thursday, extending to the Midlands, London, the Southeast of England and East Anglia during the morning. Some snow is now also expected to reach Northern Ireland, with a risk to parts of northern England before dying away from all areas by Thursday evening. Accumulations of 2-5cm are expected quite widely inland, with 10-15cm possible for parts of the Midlands and Wales. Rain is more likely close to southern coasts and across most of Devon and Cornwall. The period of snow could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across high level routes and the fact that timing of this event will coincide with the morning rush-hour. This warning will be superseded by Flash Messages.
