I am surprised this thread is so quiet
People under 30 living in Shropshire and other more western parts of the midlands are going to see more lying snow than they have seen in their lifetimes in the next48 hours
Thought this thread would be frenzied!
Unfortunately we've been promised " snowmageddon " so many times before and the snow shield has stood firm , I'll believe it when its on the ground .
-
Had a feeling you'd be looking in!
I was under the impression that this will pivot around us and slowly turn into a north easterly flow by morning.

Yes, Nick, that's it over west Wales.
Thanks
I thought so .....ive been looking for it on yr.no but couldnt see it ....while on rain today it was showing up quite clearly .

Has the low pressure formed yet ? ....... or is that it just spinning up over aberystwyth ?

lol I was about to post exactly the same words!
This can only mean one thing............Midlands-wide snowmageddon tonight & tomorrow.

This cold white stuff that's falling out of the sky currently .....was it ever shown on any of the models ?
Nick

Well its still chucking it down ...... but the tranquility here compared to the muppet show that was the mod thread earlier is a breath of fresh air

Well in Kingswinford we bareley have 0.5cm lying snow  .
I was expecting to either take the wifes Rav 4 to work or maybe even walk like a few weeks back but ,
i think the beemer will be fine .

So how come every time it's " gonna Snow here " the band of ppn breaks up around us then reforms behind us .
Everything seemed setup for us ....
GFS came online with the other models .....
Met office severe weather warning including possible depths
and a weather forecast of Snow for hours and hours maybe even days on and off
and yet it's drying out here and actually getting brighter .... may even see the sun poking through soon
Unbelievable

Looks like the metoffice are nowcasting aswell.
The forecast just changed .... Now saying heavy snow again.
The precipitation may have pepped up a little on it's way here .... ??

Well I suppose after getting in last night at 23.30 and everything was white over with frost
, then expecting to get up to a biting easterly , and snow drifting in the wind , I'm just a
little bit deflated . The frost has gone , the car covers blown off again !! , and the kids will
be up soon wanting to take the sledge up to Clent after seeing the weather forecast at teatime.

Well in the last hour the forecast from BBC and Met office for my location, Nuneaton, has become more depressing. A bit warmer, with precipitation arriving later than previously forecast, and being light rain for ages, then heavy snow around 6PM, then sleet. Wed & Thu looking wetter as well.
And now at 5.30am here we are again zzzzz a big downgrade on the metoffice forecast ,
The hard frost that was outside has gone and , it actually feels quite warm out there at the moment.
Met office warning still in place but now forcasting light rain for me till at least 6pm instead of heavy snow
from 9am.
Oh well , The west mids even when it seems to be a dead cert still manages to miss any decent snow :-((

It's raining here now .... barely had 5mm of new stuff ...... , oh well better than nowt .
Nick
-
Still a little sleety here .... but has changed from rain in the last 20 mins or so :winky:
Nick

If I see no snow from this I give up.
In the west mids anything is possible .... soooo many times i have watched radar images and the precipitation either breaks in two and goes either side
of us or dies before it gets here .

Well i just let the kids go out into the little snow we have and.... i have never seen them so excited .
A pity its thawing already , the wife thinks i'm mad letting them out at this time of night but i don't think it'll still be here in the morning.
At least we had some because they see it on the tv 6" .... 8" .... deep and they just moan " oohhh dad why can't we have some snow "

Is it me or is the band heading towards the southeast and london area?
NNNOOOOOOOO
IT'S GOING THE WWRROOOONNGGG WWWAAAAAYYYY
I feel sick to my stomach......after watching this develop over the last 24 hrs........
Bluurgh i think i'm gonna throw up......

Surely that dry slot is a radar error?
It doesnt look right to me that such a large area is dry, but i suppose it could be the low centre where everythings calm like in hurricanes?
Throwing it down with snow here at the moment, as heavy as it did on 9th Feb 07, just measured 7.5cm (3 inches) depth on grass & pavement in back garden.
Hi folks long time lurker........any way i've been thinking exactly the same thing , because that patch of " nothing " has dropped about an inch of white stuff
around the Kingswinford DY6 area constantly over the last 2 hrs.
