What winds am I due in Manston kent 🙂 bit worrying as I'm at an open field where we get very powerful gusts from the two miles of just field

I am just up the road in Margate.. stay safe

  2. So in garden 10 mins ago and heard a few distant rumbles. One went on for ages. Raining but not too bad yet.

Back indoors. Window and curtains open. Seeing it explode a little very close on the blitzortung site, and the thunder pretty much following it up. Sounds like it's getting closer! Here's hoping as need a good storm. Good luck for all those wanting. Sounds like Ramsgate, Broadstairs way maybe?

  3. Its definitely a will it or won't it here in Margate.  As I type though it sounds like some distant rumbles.. blitzortung radar showing storms getting nearer but as quite often here in thanet (where we seem to have our own weather climate lol) ẁe may still miss out..

Edt.. a few distant rumbles,  2 distant flashes seen,  although I am facing wrong direction here,  and looking at blitz radar it's heading out to sea beneath us. Sounds like I might call it a day here

Edit again.  Now I saw that flash and much louder thunder..

Is that it for us?.. often the case.. or will we get more.  Can't decide whether to sleep or not now lol

  4. Hearing a few distant rumbles and wondering how accurate the blitzoburg radar is as the storms could be heading our way.. but then again,  Margate, and thanet in particular tend to have our own weather climate.. ahha as I type a nice,  long, low,  deep rumble.. Still not here yet and no lightning seen as yet but can't go to sleep now lol

  5. So looking out window and I see someone with umbrella up and get excited!! Then I heard some bigger drops of rain.. then.. back to a few spots again.  Twice I have thought I heard some distant rumbling but think I was just being over optimistic there..

Come on rain you can do better than that I'm sure..

Actually make that another rumbling.. probably a plane somewhere

I've nothing to complain about really, had a good storm last night, was expecting heavy thundery rain today, got light patchy stand in the garden to keep cool and watch the wildlife rain instead. Couldn't do the latter with the fore ast conditions. Mind you still time for heavy stuff to appear.

I'm not sure what we got here in Margate last night.  I fell asleep..  been hoping we might be in for at least one storm today,  but I think that chance had gone out of the window.. I would just welcome some heavy rain though as it might make it feel less muggy

  7. Hiya all.. member for alot of years but don't post a great deal..

Anyway I was wondering what people reckon is the best and most accurate lightning tracker? I have been using blitzonburg, however it is spelt.. was going to download their actual app but its not got brilliant reviews..

Am I better sticking with them directly in their website?

Keeping a close eye if that's the case as we are forecast for possible overnight storm and at the moment the current traffic looks like its aiming directly at us here (which is Margate)..

But I am a weather enthusiast only by name.. I get totally lost when it comes to reading charts and data.

Good luck everyone that wants a storm.  Hope  you all get at least one 😘

  8. Well it looks like us in Thanet are going to be a miss.  Had very icy rain with occasional tinsy winsy snowflakes.  You had to look very hard though.  I was out walking the dog and got caught in it all.  Getting drenched instead of snowed on.

Looks to me on radar like its going to be too far west for our little spot near the coast.

Of course in anyone wants to correct me, then feel free 🤔😁😂

winds definitely have become more persistent and stronger now, been hearing it howling outside my bedroom window and it's quite cosy tbh.

Same here in Margate.  In a corner that catches the slightest of winds in my place.  Sounds really bad out there already.    something has already blown into my bedroom window making both myself and my dog jump.

I've have a few bits I need to do tomorrow but then Fri I think will just be out usual 2 dog walks. Dreading it tbh. I'm unsteady in my feet at the best of times and walking in a normal windy day had been known to nearly have me over.

Normal routine in a Friday is to drive to my dad's in Ramsgate mid afternoon and head home at 7.pm

After seeing all this though and knowing what is like it there already I have decided to cancel that.

These charts look pretty scary to me.  I love wild,  crazy,  mad weather but wind tends to give me the eebie jeebies. Maybe it's worse since the 87 storm.  I was a teenager and went in the garden to sit a gate that was blowing.  Felt crazy out there.  Looking out the window I saw a while fence panel fly past.

I am guessing we are not looking at an 87 but still...

And I can absolutely back Paul up with this. I was living in Southend at the time and we had close to 2 level feet of snow. The easterly was blowing for 5-6 days solid and the drifting was just insane, particularly around hedgerows at the edge of fields. The number 1 event for me by a country mile

Yes I ok was living in southend at the time and can vouch for the amount
