Think its coming in light and heavy showers now until about 2-4pm.
-
Thaw beginning here in North Birmingham. This is the beginning of the end.
-
Apparently its 9 degrees by some beach near Devon right now according to the man on the radio whos driven down there from Brum today.. Blue skies, 9 degrees, people walking across the sea front.
-
In other news, I just saw a snowflake pass my window. Literally one. I suspect it was lost.
What? You can't surely be human!
Its brunettes that tickle my pickle.
In weather news.. its still lightly snowing..
-
That can't be you, you're not a red head!
Ooooh, red headed girls...
Thats not even worth joking about!!
-
Quite a few schools are now closing at lunchtime...
Hardly makes sense, whats 3 hours going to do? The worst is most certainly over.
-
Right this one is for you Nottingham people out there, not only have we got a better football team and a better City but now we have better snow
This is like one of those moments from a 90's gameshow... "Now lets see what you could have won"
Lets not talk about football, The Super Saddlers (Walsall FC) are by far the best team in the Midlands..
Still slightly snowing.

Pah West Midlands West Shmidlands . Don't get me started else i'll start my "Which classes as Midlands" debate
I think we should be seperated from you brummie people. Seperate thread for people with good accents like a thread just for Leicester, Rugby, Hinckley, Nuneaton, Market Harborough, Nottingham, Derby and Rutland
I agree, us people from Birmingham/Walsall with the good accents need seperating from you
Edit: I had to add Walsall as thats where I am originally from, moved into the dark depths of B'ham now though..
-
Its now light :'( That is it I think..
-
Footprints from half 7 in the morning across the garden have now disappeared. Pretty impressive stuff that!
-
Getting heavy again!!!
-
Seems to be dying off now in North B'ham here... :S
-
Some schools are closing now, pathetic really. If your going to close, close it before they've gone in! Dont bloody decide when the kids then have to make a dangerous trip home, either walking or getting the parents to make another dangerous journey from work back to the school! Argh! And some little barks took the snow from my wall  I want to see that get quite high..
-
I agree with you Nick. It's not the same anymore and everyone, people and businesses alike have to accept that, on some occasions, it's futile to attempt to go out. In the final analysis gridlock, accidents and pedestrians falling over hurting themselves is no good for anyone.
Now, that in bold is good for me to watch, ill be honest. Well not hurt themselves but to see them fall has been making me howl all morning
-
Im literally crying here, still havent had the bacon sarnie I was gunna cook. Busy watching people fall over outside my house. Bloody brilliant, im in tears.
-
Traffic is terrible outside. Its gridlock on a gritted main road. The side road next to it, its taking people 10 minutes to get up a 30 second road. Once that, they get stuck coming out onto the main road. Its terrible. Doesnt help theyve opened the piggin` school so theres kids trying to run across the main road, only takes one to mis-judge the speed of a car..
-
Moderate snowfall here now. Truly amazing. It looks quite deep out, I went out into the back to the garage to get some steak out the freezer for tonight and theres easily 6-8cm!
-
My husbands school is open, he left the house 25 minutes ago and has managed to travel a distance that would normally take 5 minutes - and he's in a gridlock!!!
I'm just going to ring my daughter and make sure that she got her bus ok - it would seem that the gritting has been cut right down. A main road that my husband takes that is usually gritted is pretty bad this morning.
With the rate snow fell last night gritters were fighting a losing battle on the main road outside my house, they had to come past 6-7 times. Its no surprise that alot of main roads are dreadful, schools should open later to be honest. The school opposite me is open too, it hasnt closed once throughout this cold spell! Pretty good going!!
-
oooh yes! i have my hot brew and im listening to radio hereford and worcester atm! not feeling like a bacon sarnie yet tho .
it will keep snowing this morning wont it?
I hope so! I think for you in Worcester it will, seems to be breaking up here though! Looks nice now though so im more than happy especially after I predicted a 'dusting'.. I could work for the BBC with my way off forecasting!
-
Time for a bacon sarnie me thinks, then sit down with a hot brew watching the snow listening to the radio!!
-
All the holes in the now have been covered. Shame that it is dying out or I could get quite a bit of snow! My school is open though, but I don't have any morning lessons so it doesn't make a great deal of difference.
Im afraid to tell you, it isnt quite dying out, more to come throughout the day
-
I would hate to be right on the edge of this band! Must be awful!
Yep! Im just a few miles in luckily!! Its heavy but very small flakes. Its surprising how quickly it amounts though!
BRMB Radio are saying it may turn to sleet later
-
No signs of any snow here, and what remains on the ground is nothing but a slushy mess.
Alot of unhappy east midlanders, it hasnt got much further East than Birmingham all night.
-
Think this may turn to rain throughout the day, sleet at least.

Alot of schools closing early today, if they arent already closed alot are letting you pick your children up early in Birmingham area today as the snows expected to get heavier says one school.. Think its just to make it easier on the journey home during rush hour to be honest.
