I'm in ls7 and its snowing moderately here....relative to the ice microgranules earlier
Edit: seems like a heavier shower if the above 'microgranules'
-
Very very light snow in Leeds City Centre for past 10 minutes
-
very lightly snowing in Leeds LS7 right now, it's not going to last long though
-
Snow still falling moderately in north Leeds and no sign of melt, how can things be so different in east Leeds?
Taken 1 minute ago 8:57

Another pic from Leeds
-
Snowing and settled, quite a snowy scene here in ls7
-

Come on ye heavy stuff
over in ls7, less than 10 miles away from you it's proper snow, did get sleety earlier but now the real deal again and settling everywhere
-

-
well it's stopped snowing here for a while now in leeds ls7, but 7cm in total, measured off the picnic bench.
-
snowing nicely here in leeds, ls7 - settling now,
No sign of anything wintry here all evening, just light to moderate rain throughout.
Its dry but cloudy now with a temperature of 2.2C and dewpoint of 1.0C.
According to the NMM, tomorrow afternoon and evening are looking very interesting for Lincolnshire, East Yorks, Southern North Yorks and eastern part of West Yorks. The heaviest precipitation now takes a line north-eastwards from about Birmingham to Bridlington. The 24 hour precipitation totals show this:
The model also shows a small area of rather intense snowfall moving along this band:
During the time of the precipitation the we have the following conditions at sea level generally:
Zero degree level: 100-200 metres (good)
Dewpoint: around freezing (OK, but could be better)
500-1000hPa thickness: 526DAM (OK, would prefer 522DAM or below)
850-1000hPa thickness: 1290DAM (again OK, but could do with being a little lower)
850hPa temperature: -5C (not too relevent in this setup due to low thicknesses, but OK)
Surface temperature: 1-2C (will make it harder for any snow to settle, but should lower in heavier precipitation)
My guess would be snow almost anywhere (possibly preceded by rain for a time), with sleet/drizzle in lighter precipitation. It will generally struggle to accumulate well on low ground unless it becomes very heavy (just on grass and cars perhaps), but higher ground should see decent accumulations as conditions are much more favourable.

wow. everything turning white again!

Steady moderate snow fall for past 15mins or so here in North Leeds, settling well.
-
LS7 - Halfway between Chapeltown/Chapel Allerton. The elevation increases a bit as you go out of town up the A61 towards the ring road but I'm probably a bit low here. It is fairly steady sleet alternating with a few minutes of flakes.
I'm just up the road in ls7 and it's sleety as sleet can be - bah

Here is LS7 temp is dropping v slowly, sleety snow falling but not really settling at all yet...maybe seeing the first signs of it beginning to on my car, but I thought that 3 hours ago!
-
Seems more sleety than anything now in LS7, has been for a while.
-
Keeps changing from rainy sleet to snow here...but temp is dropping slowly...
-
good light-moderate snowfall in ls7 now, was looking abit sleety earlier but now seems to be the real thing!
-
here we go...starting to get the first few flakes....wind is picking up....
-
There is a very slow thaw going on here. Looking at http://www.johnsmeaton.leeds.sch.uk/weather.php which is close to me, the temp is 2.7ºc but unsure of the DP.
This weather station at Thorner currently has the DP at -0.6
-
moderate to heavy snow fall over Chapel Allerton, Leeds right now!
-
yeah, decent sized flakes here in ls7, best size all night, not very heavy but still going good!
-
Snow is getting heavier, nice big flakes.
best its been all night, heavyish at times, (which i class as being able to see the snow without looking at a lamppost but it's all relative!)

Wow, this is better than sex!!
Enough I tell you, what about Leeds, when is Leeds going to get anything...isn't there a law on here about celebrating snow when others are in dire need?

I know someone said it was pivoting at the wash but looking at the radar for the past 3 hrs or so, can someone explain how it's going to change direction and snake it's way up north? Obviously forecasters are confident it will, but what will trigger this?
Thanks
