  1. snowing nicely here in leeds, ls7 - settling now,

No sign of anything wintry here all evening, just light to moderate rain throughout.

Its dry but cloudy now with a temperature of 2.2C and dewpoint of 1.0C.

According to the NMM, tomorrow afternoon and evening are looking very interesting for Lincolnshire, East Yorks, Southern North Yorks and eastern part of West Yorks. The heaviest precipitation now takes a line north-eastwards from about Birmingham to Bridlington. The 24 hour precipitation totals show this:

The model also shows a small area of rather intense snowfall moving along this band:

During the time of the precipitation the we have the following conditions at sea level generally:

Zero degree level: 100-200 metres (good)

Dewpoint: around freezing (OK, but could be better)

500-1000hPa thickness: 526DAM (OK, would prefer 522DAM or below)

850-1000hPa thickness: 1290DAM (again OK, but could do with being a little lower)

850hPa temperature: -5C (not too relevent in this setup due to low thicknesses, but OK)

Surface temperature: 1-2C (will make it harder for any snow to settle, but should lower in heavier precipitation)

My guess would be snow almost anywhere (possibly preceded by rain for a time), with sleet/drizzle in lighter precipitation. It will generally struggle to accumulate well on low ground unless it becomes very heavy (just on grass and cars perhaps), but higher ground should see decent accumulations as conditions are much more favourable.
