  1. Have 2 vid clips relating to the incident just 2 miles South of Coalgate which will be uploaded soon when i find the Tape in my suitcase, but here is firstly the warning and then another close lightning strike, roads flooded and just after this we possibly had a Tornado or Funnel Cloud pass the road in front of us, am still trying to get the image off my Video and or Camera for this, this was at 845pm taking shelter after the Coalgate Tornado Sirens from 6pm earlier that evening. Take a look at the Baron's system at the start of the clip and see us surrounded by the rotating Meso's

Hey paul, I just watched those vids, ah you guys were so lucky to be storm chasing in like the middle of a supercell, well the barons system or dopplar radar or whatever it was indicated some bright colours and it looked to me you were right in the thick of it. Pretty torrential rain aswell and the lightning looked exciting to watch but bloody intense. Which person were you in the car? Because the guy in the front was like "crust" when the man issued the tornado warning, although it must have been pretty exciting.

I went to florida on a tennis tour last October, with my school and it was the end of the month when hurricane wilma struck florida. With the moist, humid, hot air we had and the cold front (hurricane) moving our way it fueled some thunderstorms that night probably along a squall line and I remember turning the TV on to the west florida weather channel and they had issued a tornado warning, I was petroleum distillateing myself but it was so exciting. In the end, we did get a thunderstorm but it only had about 20 lightning strikes and torrential rain that caused flooding, no high winds or anything, a tornado was reported to the north of us though.

Anyway, thought you just might have wanted to know that.

  2. Thanks Paul and all, the first 10 days were amazing, just looking at the videos and trying to choose which ones to upload for you all, the last 8 days were not my sort of holiday but out of 18 days we chasing 10 and had 8 down days, so not bad, If i had to choose 1 Storm in would be the Kent County Supercell which had 17 Meso's at one point and produced the Tornado Picture, scariest moment would have to be sitting in Coalgate (Ok) during 45 minutes of Wailing Tornado Sirens under a Garage Roof being pounded by Hailstones, Mississippi was also bad as we lost radar quite a bit and driving visibility was non-existant, best Lightning display was Brownwood (TX) and also the same place had earlier had the Coleman County Supercell and Bow Echoe all on the same night. Corpus Christi was a good storm and the relax after on the beach for 3 days were nice, I think we were lucky with the start of May and this will be the 2nd Straight below par May on the trot, so next year cannot be missed.

hey paul dude, where are all the videos you guys captured, haven't you published them on here yet?

  3. Hi

At the moment we are awaiting a down day to fiddle with the video, we have to edit and cut a 60 minute DV Tape and then upload to MovieMaker, so uploading pictures is very fast, if this carries on like this the Vid's will have to be done at the end, buit believe me they are truly amazing Video Clips and you get to hear the Thunderbolts.

    Paul S

It is quite easy, set the camera to Manual Focus and Bulb Setting, set your aperture to about 5.6, you will need a Remote release cable, release and hold the shutter open and await the Lightning bolt and then close shutter, Bingo <_< It does help when we have over 80 strikes per minute with these storms though

    Paul S

Cheers paul, thanks for that, i can't wait to see your videos, hope theres loads of hail, thunder, lightning and especially any supercell developement and tornados.
