A friend of mine took this yesterday at about 7.30pm near Dereham in Norfolk. Pretty awesome...!

Pretty decent day for interesting weather here in Norwich today. Went out early in the afternoon with the camera to catch a few pics of a fairly weakish storm which wasn't the most spectacular thing ever. The at about 7 I headed out again and spent nearly 3 hours watching the strong cells to the west slowly tracking NNW. Nothing special in terms of structure but some amazing lightning/sunset scenes. Got a few lightning shots which I'll post tomorrow. Didn't get wet either which was a bonus!

Thanks all!
Camera/Lens was a Canon EOS 50D with 15-18mm lense. Panos were made using 5 or 6 (can't remember which!) shots stitched in Photoshop.
Photo was taken near Trowse. The bridge in the 1st Pano is where the road to Stoke Holy Cross goes over the A47. Great storm spotting location although a bit scary when there's lightning about!!

For the second time in a couple of weeks I've got seriously lucky with some amazing looking weather! This decaying storm timed its arrival perfectly with the setting sun to give some absolutely spectacular looking skies. There was no rain or wind, just a couple of flickers of lightning. Awesome experience watching is slowly roll towards me. A great way to end the weekend!

Nice pics/videos and write up mate! I was on the same storm but further South just outside of Trowse, it really was the most active daytime storm I've seen in years!
My photos etc here;

I've got to admit that until this evening it had literally been so long since I'd seen a decent storm that I'd actually genuinely lost interest in chasing the weather pretty much all together.
Anyway, I kept half an eye on the radar today and watched all the action kicking off further North as usual these days. Come this evening I didn't really expect much but by chance I checked the radar at about 1930 and noticed that there were still some strong cells about and one was actually (literally could not believe it!) heading towards Norwich.
Couldn't see much out of the window but according to radar and sferic detection the cell was throwing out a lot of precip and lightning so I got my gear together, jumped in the car and went to my favourite storm watching spot about 5 minutes away.
I arrived in good time and by more luck than judgement was in the perfect spot to watch the storm roll in towards me. Structure wasn't great at first but I could easily make out out the wall of water heading my way with brilliant purple flashes lighting it up from inside every 10 seconds or so.
As it got nearer the structure got better and the lightning more frequent with some awesome close CG srtikes. No real rain at this point too which made life a lot easier.
Started getting a bit scary at this point as there was a fair bit of lightning flying about so I headed back to my car to try and get out of the open!
Some video from behind the gust front but ahead of the rain...
After this the rain and serious CGs caught up with me so I took shelter in the car and sat it out before heading home. All in all an awesome storm, over pretty quickly but very very intense.
Just to cap it off I was caught this when I got home too!

Caught this beauty yesterday evening. Great as I wasn't expecting anything!

Excellent, thanks Paul!

Bump. Looking at a Galaxy S II and could do with knowing if NW radar will work.
Thanks.

The one decent shot I got from last night's storm. I'd have liked a closer bolt and a bit more central but I can't complain, it was just nice to see some night time lightning for the first time in a couple of years!

Nice pics!
I was in Bawburgh yesterday evening and could just about see that lot through the trees to the north. Would have liked to have got out with the camera too!

Would love to be seeing a ground-based image of that cell exploding close to Norwich right now. I guess whoever's observing it is too busy taking obs to be preoccupied heading onto the NW board right now. well-defined anvil with explosive convection within that cell, and CAPE around it to feed off from. One of the best i've seen so far today.
Just been out to have a look at this. Judging by radar it's about 20 miles SW of Norwich at the moment somewhere near Thetford. Visability isn't great though so apart from the hazy edge of the anvil there isn't much to see. Hopefully it might keep on till dusk when I'll get out for some lightning shots. I'm tempted to go and have a closer look but I think photographically wise it will just be murk. Fingers crossed for some action after sunset.

Due to a combination of frozen car door locks and late and delayed trains I had Monday morning off work so I went for a walk around my local park to take some pics. The early light, mist, fog, frost, frozen lake and fact there was no one else there make it pretty epic. -8 degrees or so when I got there at about 9am, it really was a winter wonderland!

A bloke on a car forum I'm on posted this quality lightning vid from Manchester today...

Very good mate, I'm loving those first 3.

Nice cell just passed through here in North Norwich. Frequent lightning, torrential rain and strong wind. Nice bit of structure too. Shame I'm stuck in the office though, would love to be out chasing! So damn fraustrating!!!!
-
First bit of decent convective weather this year which was nice. Best part was I only had to drive 5 mins up the road to get these. Didn't see any lightning/hear any thunder until the cells has passed but it was a good show anyway.

I dragged myself out of bed at 5am for these. Well pleased with them though...

Mostly landscape shots on here at the moment but I'll be getting some more weather/storm stuff up before too long. Let me know that you think!

A dove? That's a shame.
Would have preferred it to have been one of the winged rats.

I came home yesterday afternoon to find this scene literally on my doorstep. It flew off when I got out of the car but came back once I'd gone inside. It didn't seem too bothered that I was watching, even though I was only about 2m away. Anyway I couldn't miss a photo opportunity!
Anyone know what it is? Sparrow hawk?

Ok so about 5 hours ago now I got bored of watching the radar and decided to go play in the garden with the snow I already had laying. The result...... The SNOWBOT.

The cell in the photo is actually not the right mover that Paul mentioned yesterday. It was taken a couple of hours later but in pretty much exactly the same spot as the earlier cell. On radar (and from a distance, I was observing from a hill about 25 miles away!) it didn't look massively organised but that pic definitely does suggest otherwise.
I need to check exact times with my friend as she said it was taken at 'about 7.30', looking back at the radar sequence I think it might have been a bit later though as it looks like it really intensified at about 7.45.
