Currently at Great Cheyne farm wind turbines on a259 East Sussex, moderate rain and infrequent lightning, hoping it will intensify soon
-
I am in ashford Kent and want to head in direction of storms or get a good viewpoint, anyone interested in tagging along or meeting up somewhere
-
Has been raining here for an hour quite heavy but no thunder the sky did look menacing out towards the channel, i think we had our lot last night
-

Anyone out tonight? I'm in ashford and was going to head out a bit later i can flit between kent and sussex easily, looks like good potential, i have my hd Blackvue recorder ready ! Hopefully the channel won't kill it

It really has been that lively, alot of the lightning seemed to be high altitude but overhead and pretty impressive. Hail didn't last long but have received 0.78 of an inch in the last hour

Omg imperial mint size hail, multiple lightning strikes, torrential rain, localised flooding, counted about 30 flashes so far, not had one like this for several years
-
Bet it's blowy on the Marsh this evening? The wind has really gotten up in the last hour...nice cell out in the Channel headed this way too!
Yes, it is blowy, those showers need to come inland just slightly especially as i live right in the middle of sheep territory, however i just got soaked by a shower off of littlestone, very windy now as another shower heads in, strangely the lower clouds are going south easterly and the higher shower clouds are tracking north easterly
-
Heavy blustery showers at the mo, yes my other half is sick of me going on and on, worth having a mini domestic for to get out of the house lol, no flashes yet though

Got away from the wife and am sitting overlooking the english channel near dungeness hoping 2 catch a couple of flashes, love sitting in a car when the weather is grim, plus the obligatory kebab yum
-
Something beefy heading for me from the English Channel, will probably fizzle out by the time it gets here.
-
Thunderstorm here now
-
Just driven home to Romney Marsh from Hitchin, 115 miles and the rain has been pretty torrential in places, no lightning though, drops were slapping on the windscreen
-
The Low clouds over last 24 hrs have been sandy brown in colour, i was going to mention this, must be from sahara, cars also covered in it
-
Fog is decending on the marsh, very eerie
-
A couple of large claps of thunder here
-
Todays been so hazy and with dark menacing skies, i actually witnessed what appeared to be moisture/mist being sucked into the dark clouds earlier, hadnt seen that for a while, very black clouds now, hopIng for lots of action soon
-
Large splodges of rain falling at a slow pace here, dark skys out to the channel and just rodded my drains in time by the looks of it, no lightning yet, this is reminicent of 1996, not the unblocking of drains though !

Thought it looked promising earlier but nevermind, just found my old ticket for Glastonbury June 2005 now that was a storm from hell, numero uno according to isle of wight lightning top 5.
-

Just had a gust of 63.5 mph, stuff crashing around
-
In 2007 in Kent, my friend and i went storm chasing with one of the top 5 storms of the last few years according to stats on the isle of wight lightning site, any way strikes were getting too close for comfort and we were in a middle of a field on the flat romney marshes, we decided to turn around as cloud to ground strikes were all around, as we backed the hi lux up to a metal gate lightning struck the post and also the vehicle and my friend had what can only be described as sun burn to one side of his face, all i saw was a purple flash and a mega crack, we drove so quickly to get out of danger that we were jumping furrows in the ploughed field, that was a very scary experience.
