Lol no. I'm also a cold lover and tend to put on the layers before whacking up the heating. Never more than 23-24C.
Precisely - 23-24 is more than enough heat

Typical talk of a heat moaner...
Just out of interest, as a "heat lover", what is your heating thermostat set to in winter? 34'c?

Definitely be glad when this comes to an end, us Brits work ourselves up into a frenzy when the hot weather comes due to the typically grey and dull conditions our island is famous for.
But the truth is that, in countries where these conditions are common, the locals are sensible and avoid being exposed for too long, hoping for cooler conditions.
There's this weird thing over here where it's seen as a bit of a weakness or a bit suspicious if you don't unconditonally welcome hot weather. As a golfer, these conditions are terrible for the course and for being uncomfortable to play in, which is sort of ruining the summer golfing season for me.
Got lots of proper gardening to do as well, cutting stuff back, filling up bags and taking them to the tip, and all I can do is sit mainly in the shade and imagine myself working.
It does make me chuckle though to think of the people completely committed to the "THIS WEATHER IS AMAZING" theory, standing on a packed tube train grimacing through a beaming smile while the sweat pours off them. "THIS IS GREAT, I'M LOVING THIS"

Not sure if I'm in the right thread, the new regional splits are a bit confusing

Hi All,
I only drop by periodically to see what you're all chatting about during the extreme ends of our climate here, i.e. high summer and mid-winter.
This spell of weather is really terrible isn't it. Give me crisp clear blue skies and frost or snow on the ground any day of the week over grey, wet and mild but not having to "wear a coat"???
It's plenty warm enough in the pub when you get there.
The only upsides for me are; thinking of the execs at the big energy companies sitting in their boardroom looking out the windows as we all keep our heating turned off.
And there's a tiny bit of "grumpy old man" schaudenfreude for me seeing shots of packed high streets with cheap christmas decorations and rain hammering it down. I love the thought of frost and snow at Christmas, but living in the south east it just never happens, despite how much the christmas TV adverts convince everyone otherwise.
I fee like writing a john cooper clarke poem about the realities of christmas in England as an antidote to the unrealistic adverts on tv.......plastic santas hanging outside the bookies in Southall high street......traffic jams outside argos......nan's got the heating on again.......mrs browns boys on the telly........it's p*ssing down

If you follow the seasons astronomically, 7 August actually only marks the midway point of summer. Who say's summer is nearly over?
Why do weather enthusiasts follow astronomical seasons?
Aren't meteorological seasons more relevant on a weather forum? or are the astronomical seasons based on weather patterns as well?
Astrononmical makes me think of Mystic Meg

The British Summer's inevitable grey and rainy spells are as regular and predictable as the media's hysterical and incredulous response. Every....single....year.
-
So was that the much hyped "RETURN OF SUMMER!!!" ??
What a grubby period of stuffy, grey dreariness
Let's have some crisp, sunny autumnal weather now please

Really noticed it last night, dull out side, we had the lights on at the back of seven.........and the shocker for me was the huge house spiders running across the carpet.
Yeah had a couple of absolute beasts here the last couple of weeks, a sure sign that Autumn is fast approaching.
Doesn't last long from memory though, they tend to disappear back into walls/floors again before the end of August I think?
The trick I think, for anyone with arachnophobia, is light. They only come out in the dark normally.
Once I've turned the lights off downstairs of an evening, I try and avoid heading back down if possible!

far nicer today, still a bit too muggy for my liking, but was able to cut the lawn and do a bit in the garden
30+ is fine if you're plodding around the beach with nothing to do, but I got things that need doing and this last week nothing has been done
a nice sunny, 22/23'c August please and maybe I'll be able to start playing golf again after giving up at the beginning of grass pollen season and continuing my hiatus due to the heat!!

Wow, massive strike and crack of thunder just half a mile from here, listening to Heathrow and they're talking about it on the ATC freqs.

Ouch!
I've been trying to get a tree surgeon out to get me a quote this week, and pretty much every night he's ringing saying "I'm just beat mate, been out in this heat all day in safety gear wielding a chainsaw and I need a rest!"
-
Always been my point, nobody ever complains about the heat when on holiday
Because all they're doing is shuffling around in shorts with a cold beer or swimming?
We need to do other boring things at home like jobs and housework.
the only thing I object to is everybody wishing it was over and then complaining when it does break down. This sort of spell is rare so people should make the most of itWhat about the people wishing it was over who won't complain when it breaks down? Rain is as necessary as sun, especially looking around at how barren everything is starting to look.
I've always been intrigued when people say we should make the most of this weather, how does one go about doing that exactly?
I can't play golf, I can't sit in the sun drinking all day down the pub, so as far as I can see, I can make a lot more of a sunny day where it's in the low to mid-20's
Anything above that actually stops people doing anything useful and "making the most of it"

Yep I like the heat because its extreme and unusual. Dec 2010 was extremely cold and people on here wanted it to get colder - same thing!
Just minutes off 26c...
right, yeah, I sort of agree. I hate the in between stuff and prefer extremes of weather
But this is unpleasant IMO, I can't sit outside in this heat so it sort of ruins summer for me during these heatwaves.
Around about 8pm is really nice on days like today, really pleasantly warm to be sitting outside
-
24 here
I like nice weather as much as the next man but, to clarify; people actually like this heat and want it to get hotter?
-
I agree Botty. God help some people if another 1976 were to come along. Sitting outside chilling in the warm evening breeze its confusing me to think that there so many whiners about at the moment.
Yes, we mustn't go against mass opinion, eh! You've picked the best part of the day as your reference point there, conveniently missing the stifling heat of mid-afternoon and sticky humidity of the night when indoors
Time to post a Daily Express pick of a packed beach and headline of "HOTTER THAN MORROCCO!"
22'c here apparently at the moment but it feels a lot warmer than that
-
Well I don't like hot weather in as much as 30'c is just uncomfortable, as I've said before if it was 30'c in your house in the winter, you'd turn the heat down, right?
But this dude laserguy must have some health problems or something
As much as I dislike the intense heat of today, it's been a cracking day and it's lovely to sit outside now with a beer watching the sprinkler
I'd just rather our summers stuck at 24'c so we can still go about our day, as I've been painting all day and it's been tiring
For the record, currently 27'c
Budweiser is around 5'c
-
Looks like 25'c at 11pm tonight
But we mustn't talk bad about the heat!
-
What does 30C feel like?! lol
A lot like 25'c, but with a lot more bbq smells
-
Aye, mad dogs and Englishmen...
We're sun noobs
30 degrees here, not too bad down in the cabin giving it a lick of paint and watching the cricket
Might brave the sun and cut the lawn in a minute
-
29.9c in Writtle nr Chelmsford and directly next to V Festival, lucky sods!
Being stuck outdoors in that heat would be intolerable, people that live in hot climates would be in the shade
But not the plucky old Brits!
