woke up this morning feeling quite satisfied, no storm directly overhead but the consistancy of the lightning show was immense. Also which seemed unusual was how lovely and fresh it felt. Temp topped at around 28c here now slowly falling, personally ill be glad to see an end to the heat and looking forward to low twenty temperatures as long as we dont fall back into those pesky north westerlies. Had the heat and the storms I cant complain, all we need now is a Tornado

Lots of distant flashes and the odd rumble looking south west over the estuary from southend. It's so fresh and yet storms feels weird... Radar has gone nuts cells sprouting from nowhere so fast...

IAlmost gave up oh so pessimistic me

Why is the temperature for London always incorrect on the homepage,it says London is currently at 26.4 when the City is easily 30 degrees now. Is there some kind of delay ?.
-
has anyone spotted a cloud today, I cant remember it to even be so cloud free not even a wisp of cirrus
-
Shown clearly by image below, I think it's due to a southeasterly feed going over a relatively cool North Sea.
ya i dont think ill be taking a dip quite yet, stragely the hottest part of the day in these parts seem to be around 6pm, i always though it should be around 2-3 pm? I think the highest recorded temp today will be 31.5 somewhere around london

seems that the essex estuary coast is strugging a bit, one weather station about 2 miles inland is recording 25.3c, only slowly creeping up. and 25.6c at Shoeburyness still its very plesant completly blue skys no contrails, and a little breeze dosnt feel humid, however I think that will change

29 in maidstone would be considerabley accurate for a car thermometer maybe a degree or two lower usually there way, way out ...
-
yeah thanks to the low humidity and breeze it felt very comfortable, wonder what and where the highest temp was today, 27.6 degrees recorded max approx 2 miles inland at Southend using Davis equipment.
-
cant believe the heat today I knew it would be warm but 27 degrees c. in Southend-on Sea, a teaser for next week perhaps. I guess West of London will be the hot spot for next week with 90F/32c . what do people think the highest max will be?
-
36 degrees C in Northern Italy/Padova during June 2002 I think
-12 in the Nothern Pennines/Wearhead 1999 sometime

27.4 degrees as long as that wind keeps nudging north-west 28 is very possible pretty damn hot but at 34percent humidty it feels quite nice , amazing hoe much difference humidty effects how hot we feel, i, just concerned about my fruit setting on the tomato plants but im sure humidty will shoot up this evening as it cools off. as i write its jumped to 27.8!

ya sorry i meant in the 30s but im seeing around 31 percent and im on the coast in southend, temps already matched yesterday and its not even solar noon, ive checked these same stations for days and they usually read 55-60ish, no chance of a storm then but some lovely bits cirrus knocking around
-
Just curious, I noticed readings in the 20s percentage wise at a local weather station, I checked other stations accross the county of Essex and noticed the same . I thought low humidy reading this low were unheard of , lately its been around the 60 percent mark.. anyone have any ideas what is causing this ?

I dont remember the year however in the 90s sometime and I was walking to school after my lunchbreak, Weather was calm and Sunny then the sky went black within minutes, winds were the strongest Ive experienced in my life, and the hail and rain was so hard, it cleared and calmed down after only around 10 mins. We were sent home as everyone was drenched. If only I knew the date.!

Any one know if there would be much of a difference in temperate from a standard 1.5m height or at the top of my wind vane at 10m?.
-
10.4 c recorded here 24th feb, then again I am in the far south east, still constant single figures and we are into mid march. so far a cold start to spring

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what develops later on today after getting a little bit of the 'drug' that is thunder the other day, I'm really starting to awaken again after the winter hibernation.
Last night though was very surreal - sitting under an area of LP, dead calm, no wind, clear skies, harsh frost this morning...not something you tend to associate with a wintry area of LP!
I thought I was the only one thinking it was dead strange , not a breath of wind, causing much colder overnight temps. A nice area of heavy convection swinging in towards the south, boom boom shake the room

Quite a nice day here in Southend with just a few clouds , felt mild in the sun..
Met Office is a little out with there temp forcast (again) though, supposed to be 2-3c at midnight, already -1.0c and still dropping at 22:25hrs .. edit -1.6 at 23:06 !
