  1. Where should I put my thermometer to get the "official" temperature? - currently it is in the shade attached to a wooden fence, however if I place it on my car which is parked on the drive, I get a reading that is about 2C less. Any advice about what can be regarded as the real minimum temperature? I guess thermometers shout be in those white boxes but surely those will retain heat like my fence?

    Regards

  2. Hi everyone,

My son James, 7, and I have been planning to do our temperature/rainfall graph for the winter months again, but I couldn't get the graph paper until this weekend, so we've missed the first few days readings.

Could anyone in the London area provide their own readings for December so far? We can use those to populate the graph up to today.

    Would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve M

I'm in Watford, just north of North London. We often have our own micro-climate here due to the geographical setting. Can send you my data if that's any good to you. You can reply to me as PM if you wish, or my email address should display. I use a La Crosse WS 3600 with the HeavyWeather software

  3. Hi all

Looking to inversting in my first weather station. Budget up to £200. wireless and data logging is a must.

I see the WS-2350 for £115, but as Im really willing to spend upto £200, is the WS-3650 for approx £200 really worth the extra money, ie £80 worths of extra features. I hope some experienced users could give me some feed back.

If you know of any better Weather stations For £200 please feel free to post.

    Any info much appreciated.

    All the best

    Mint

Hi, I have had a WS3-600 for 2 years, its the same as the 3650 except you have the cup type anemometer and slightly larger rain gauge. I have had no problems except last year i fitted the cup type anemometer, so, I guess mine is a 3650.

The HeavyWeather software is fine for routine use. As I want to add sensors, I will chnage to Ambient Weather or similar and use 1-Wire format for added sensors. As for LaCrosse, they are good, appalling support, 'years' to answer a query.

    Regards Jonathan

  4. Can anyone help. Had my La Crosse WS 3600 since last Dec, generally happy with it, but 2 months ago readings from the wind anemometer failed suddenly after working ok. It is the turbine type. I can see the rotor turning ok, but, as it's up on top of the chimney (chimney is on side of house so I am not affected by false high wind speed over the roof ridge), and when I put it there was before I had a spinal operation, its not easy to get up there to check it.

I was wondering if anyone knew what voltages I should expect from the wire feeding back from the turbine, if its working ok, to the Thermo-Hygro Sensor which is mounted at ground level out of the sun. This way I could tell if the problem was up on the roof, or if it was in the Thermo-Hygro Sensor

I do not use battery power, the mains transformer feeds power up to the anemometer and to the Thermo-Hygro Sensor. All of the other parts function correctly and feed data ack to the HeavyWeather software I use. I have asked La Crosse tech support for help, but, although they responded ok on another earlier issue, they have ignored this enquiry.

    Hoping for help, Jonathan
