Yesterday was 1st Day in 80, in my location, that the temperature exceeded 10C.
Between 15 December - 15 January (excluding Christmas/Boxing Day) the temperature stayed below 5C.
I welcome a few cold snaps before a very warm and sunny april/may please .
-
11 December - 01 March it was below 10C here.
And between 15 December - 15 January (minus Christmas/Boxing Day) it was below 5C.
Quite astonishing indeed!
Definitely been a great winter.

Such a nice day out.
How appropriate for 1st Day of Spring (even though I don't consider it spring till Vernal Equinox on 20th).
Very close to 10C, which is a first in quite some time.
I'm more than happy for winter to come back with a bang if it wished though .
-
^ Yup, the BBC seemed quite confused because they had snow on the charts with temps around 7-8c.
-
Yes I saw the forecast, the HP over atlantic moves north and eventually descends towards the UK over Scotland when the LP sinks south. This drags easterly winds over us.
-
Spring is on its way i think, wont be too long before plants etc come back to life as some are already. Been fairly mild last few days with lows of around 4C or 5C and highs of 9C to 13C. Friday was windy, yesterday and today seem to be cloudy and breezy with the odd bit of rain but fairly mild.
When do you think temps could be getting to the mid/high teens? last year it was from around mid/end of march here. same this year? im now looking foward to warmer weather as winter is just about over isn't it?
Could go either way... 7th April 2008 we had snow, same time a year earlier we had a mini heatwave with temps in early 20C's.

It was always gonna be difficult to exactly pin down how far north this storm was gonna go - the bbc actually had it right last night on their forecasts - and yourself in Chepstow were right on the north western edge of how far the low got into Wales - it could have been very different!!!!!
It could've which just shows how quickly things can go right/wrong for us.
I didn't see the forecast last Night, I think it was Friday when I last checked and there was talk of flooding in the local area so alot of people were Today.
-
What a fail the weather forecast has been.
Last time I checked there was a strong storm heading over from the south.
It's bone dry and partly cloudy here and it looks like it's missed the UK except the SE of England.
Of course the forecast may have changed hours earlier but I haven't been here to check.

^wow. Still wind and rain .
Now this is exactly why you are nearly extinct ourson - too much ramping!!!!!! There will be snow in March possibly but none will stick. Lost the faith x
None will stick? Can't say that yet, remember April 2008?
8cm fell, yes it melted by the afternoon but still

^ I don't think I'll be high enough, nor most of the people living in South Wales.
This looks good:
-
BBC Online says 8C and heavy snow Sunday LOL.
MetOffice give early warning for heavy rain.
-
Mild and boring wet weather next few days .
Not happy unless it's pelting down with snow or blazing sunshine.
Some snow events this winter have come out of no where so I'm not banking on charts for next week as they always alter when the time comes around.
-------
Even if it is late February we still got another few weeks where snow is still likely...
remember 2008:

but also same time in 2007:
-
^ same . Showers coming this evening .
-
Slightly off topic but does anyone know how many days of snow we've had this winter so far in Wales?
I'm curious as to whether we've had more days of snow than rain too!
Thanks in advance.
-
The snow is just stopping now.
Showers to follow. Only started accumulating on all surfaces about 10 mins earlier. Typical .
-
We've had steady snowfall last 2 or so hours.
It's not accumulating though, except slightly on the grass when it falls really thick and fast.
The front has moved across very quickly...
but at least I've been able to window watch some nice snowflakes instead of what the BBC were forecasting - RAIN. (fail)
-
It snowed last night but it came down like bits of dust so the accumulation by the morning was something of 1mm.
All melted before midday.
-
very light sleet.
we had sleet last night too, the local mountains had a nice covering by the morning.
-
On the news/weather they tend to focus on the places where most disruption/large population effected, even though other places may be worse off.
The National BBC weather seems to have the overnight showers over Devon and Cornwall and into the south of England. I guess we'll have to see what Derek says in a few minutes time!
UPD: Just a few showers tomorrow says Derek! Seems like that band has pushed southwards?
Yeh it looks like it's heading Devon/Cornwall.
On the radar it shows snow Sunday morning for us however.
-
Awful weather conditions here today - Snow down to sea level with around 8cm of snow now in my garden. Better now with some dark clouds around. Temperature @ 0.6C. If South Wales had this, the warnings would be flying in - Nothing here!
We had plenty of snow here Yesterday and the National News were harping on about the Midlands.
-
The showers are on a WNW wind so not much happening for the south but the north of wales is having lots of showers.
These are predicted to become a bit more widespread later as the wind turns.
Currently here: 5.5C.
WNW wind, calm.
Partly cloudy.
Exposed snow has melted but there's still lots left in the shaded areas.
-
We had 5cm of snow here. Would've been more but the ground was so wet it didn't start accumulating till around 11am when the snow chilled the air and the temp dipped to 0.5c from 1.5c at 9am.
Not bad at all though, wasn't really expecting much...
BBC online is useless - heavy rain showers and sleet was forecast for my area and the radio said snow wasn't starting until Tonight .
-
GFS 12z is showing snow showers - but all could change as it has been doing with this current set up - currently only look about two days ahead for accurate forecasting - anything after that could happen but is subject to change
yeh I know haha. It's still a nice bit of hope and a drastic change from their earlier forecast of sunny and 6C - which shows how quickly it could all change again .
-
BBC online (although very inaccurate for days 4&5) forecast heavy snow Monday.
-
woke up to a fine covering of snow this morning on the grass and roofs.
it was so wet/damp though so didn't last long.
Today has been drizzly.
