Im looking to possible development from the wave just of the coast of Africa. With regards to arthur i believe if it does exit into the BoC then we will have a strong T.S or maybe even Cat.1

Great Pictures - shame about the size though.
Maybe its just me but picture 6 looks like it might just have had a funnel developing to the westside of the storm.

Found this photo on Facebook of all places. Just would like to point it's not mine, but given the photo was taken just a few miles down the round from me I thought it'd be nice to post it up and prove that this area of the World does get thunderstorms and not just drizzle. I would hazard a guess the photo was taken somewhere around July 2006.
Seriously is lightning that rare were you are that you could guess it being nearly two year ago?? Presumably that was the last time you had a decent storm??

Nice pics there, really violent looking storm there. Did you hear any thunder?
Well i only heard the one realy loud rumble, i think i might of heard a few distant rumbles, but there was a lot of noise from traffic and stuff so it was hard to tell, added to that the wind was blowing a easterly - i was south of the storm.
I can say though it braught torrential rain and hail.

Thanks

good pics from a phone..
You realy think so?

Pictures taken on a cam phone which is a pitty because this was an impressive looking storm.
Just after 3pm today an impressive storm crossed about 8 miles to the north of me.
Here is the view just my east from were i was standing in the first photo...
The Gust front trailed for a fare distant west...
The next are looking North and North East and showing the front and its curvature..

Hi Iceagian,
Yes it did have a slight 'bow' to it, but that doesn't make it a supercell.
Ahh i see  . I only said that because i thought the curvature of the clouds above the gust front indicated that the main cloud might have been rotating - thus indicating the presence of a supercell. But regardless of what type it was, it certainly was an impressive looking storm and those pictures on that link are excellent - i think the mammatus was pretty.
-
Simply stunning, saw some lightning, but it gave no rain where I was:
Ello,
Quality picture.. but the what i find intreguing is the clearly visable curvature of the cloud just above the shelf prooving this to be a supercell, i got to ask you, by any chance did this baby spawn any tornadoes?

Has anybody noticed that the metoffice have named Southampton as the warmest place in the UK on the 9th of April.
This is odd as to the best of my knowledge the southampton recording stations stoped being used in the late 90's as did the Southsea one. Does anybody know what is going on? Is the southampton station being used again.

Hi Guys
This morning from around 7am we had torrential rain, we also had lots of sheet lightning every few minutes which was a brilliant blue colour. What surprised me was during this time of lightning we did not have one clap of thunder.
Wht caused this I always thought thunder followed lightning. Over to the experts here.
Brian
Lightning can be seen from over a hunderd miles away yet thunder can only be heard from 20 miles. I might be wrong with the miles and it could be Kilometers its been a while .
