  1. Today has got Lincolnshire written all over it - I'm gonna go with Liverpool across to Hull though seeing something possibly severe later today.
  2. Apologies. looking at the lightning detector, it appears to have exploded into life with 400+ Strikes per minute. Reports from Southampton indicate a huge meso with pictures of several funnel clouds/possible tornado touchdown in the Eastleigh area as the supercell came ashore. better?
  3. Though looking at the lightning detector, activity has completely dropped off.
  4. Quite a few flashes/forks per minute on that cam - seems pretty active
  5. Sky is clearing here finally and the air does feel a bit more juicy. Pretty convinced any actual activity will be hindered by the cloud shield from the MCS leaving the Normandy coast and over to the Far East of me anyway
  6. Storm in north France will clip the edge of Kent if it maintains its current trajectory. I just can’t see anything here tonight apart from bursts of heavy rain.
  7. Cool, windy and wet here in Hampshire. Does not feel conducive to storms whatsoever.
  8. Seeing as whenever storms are nailed on for my region and they never happen, I’m going to go for tonight being the most insane direct hit since the mid 90s.
  9. Because as I said, sun has been at a premium. In direct sun, yes, it feels pleasantly warm - but the majority of days here have been overcast/cloudy with a fairly significant cool breeze. I'm sorry but 14 degrees with a "feels like" temperature of 10 isn't warm enough for me to enjoy without multiple layers of clothing. There was one morning (last Saturday or the one before) where it was very sunny and calm and that felt extremely pleasant sat in my garden in just a jumper. Same for last Friday where up until the early afternoon, it was sunny before the infill arrived like clockwork. We DID have a nice period of weather towards the end of March which I am very thankful for (especially following last year's spring which was honestly the worst in living memory) but it has been largely disappointing ever since. And describing our climate as "depressing" is relative is it not? I am a weather-enthusiast and find the weather interesting - hence why I am on a weather forum. The more extreme the weather, the more interesting. In the UK, we don't often see those extremes. We often have cool, damp and often disgustingly wet winters devoid of any snow and we often have cool, damp and often disgustingly wet summers devoid of any storms/prolonged heat. We exist in a state of perpetual autumn. Our climate is very bland. Very mild. Very Coldplay. The fact the heat/storms are often within 50-100 miles of the U.K. in France adds to the frustration because it is so close geographically. You can gatekeep what constitutes interesting weather and insult me by speculating on my perceived lack of knowledge all you like - doesn't change the fact the U.K. climate is terrible for anyone with an interest in "interesting" weather.
  10. Still wearing a heavy coat and 4-5 layers to work every day. Still taking vitamin D supplements because there's very limited sun. We genuinely have the most depressing climate on the planet.
  11. lovely and cold wet and windy november afternoon today
  12. an incredibly dull spring here to continue the thunderstorm drought in C/S England. Convection in these parts has been rarer than hen's teeth since 2007.
  13. Amen. Looks like the bbq is staying in the garage - maybe i'll get it out in september like last year.
  14. Disappointing weather today. Was thinking about dusting off the bbq but it’s cool, breezy and cloudy.
  15. Tomorrow looks rank. A high of 11 and rain. Disgusting.
  16. Went home at lunchtime. Tried to sit in the garden but despite wearing a t-shirt, longsleeve, jumper and hoodie, the baltic weather forced me inside.
  17. Agreed - 2021 was dismal. One nice day in March and then a freezing cold turning damp April and May, followed by a hot week at the start of June which quickly gave way to more cool, dank rubbish. Watching the Euros at the pub in July under a blanket. Grim. This year is already better, simply because of the nice weather of a week or two ago - feels like December out there this morning though.
  18. All a bit nothing isn't it really. Still wearing a heavy coat and hat to work in the mornings.
  19. Definitely was last year - saw fungus growth and leaves turning orange in May last year which I’ve never seen before. probably another dreadful spring/summer in the offing
  20. Was unaware there was supposed to be a hurricane last night. Loudest wind I’ve heard in a while at some god forsaken hour that woke me up and I thought our windows were going to come in. Any chance of actual spring on the horizon?
