  1. Yes the Met Office update does not make good reading from a cold lovers perspective, I suspect that we will now have to endure yet another rubbish festive season with a distinct lack of anything cold on the horizon until after XMAS.

All open to change of course, but I just can't see a return to anything even remotely cold for a good few weeks now.

I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever see a White Xmas in this country , I've been alive for 35 years and have never seen snow lying on the ground here on XMas day !

    Not even Christmas Day 2010sorry.gif
  2. Are we to read anything into the word changes

    Yesterday

'However, there are signs that northerly winds may be quite frequent across the UK. So, on balance, colder than average conditions are likely to continue, with a risk of frost and fog, and an increased risk of some snow.'

    Today

'However, there are signs that north or north easterly winds may be quite frequent across the UK. So, on balance, colder than average conditions are likely to continue, with a risk of frost and fog, and an increased risk of some snow in places.'

    Hmmmmmm....

    Looking good me thinkssmiliz64.gif

  3. I think half the problem in this country is people don't know how to drive properly in snow and ice... pardon.gif have little trouble unless you get silly amounts on road round here although you go into a town where snow is rare and its carnage with only an inch on road and people being stupid. acute.gif

Scandanavian countries do have disruption with snow, I have been in Helsinki during heavy snow storms and their transport system has come to a halt. To say there is no disruption is just a myth. Obviously their temperature would be a feature, but they do have disruption.
  4. i know that!! i meant it got very mild or mild later, in jan/feb, i know it was freezing at the end of november and december was the start of the ice age...but it got warmer :whistling:

Most likely courtesy of La Nina.We have a most interesting Autumn and winter ahead of uspleasantry.gif

  5. A very Positive AO rofl.gifWe will hold you to your forecast Gray Wolf.! Enso Neutral with a possibility of switching back to a La Nina doesnt auger well for a mild winter over the British Isle. I would expect the reverse. Snow- mid November? December and January with another flip back to milder conditions in February. It is very early days yet of course.Autumn has already started two weeks earlier Havent you npticed spiteful.gif

  6. Autumn Fruit (blackberries) beginning to appear. a lot of summer fruit ripened ealier than usual such as Blackcurrants 2-3 weeks ahead. Warm spring, mediocar summer or Harsh winter to come. Some trees leaves are beginning to change colour and I am not talking about the usual trees. We will probably get a few decent days of summer. Autumn starts in August. my gut feeling is a repeat of last year.

  7. Strangely enough we are having a dry june. Rainfall totals practically everywhere are below normal.Practically everyday we have had rain mostly light or a thunderstorm. What is more noticable is the temperature which is 1-2 degrees below normal for this time of year and no sign of any decent weather in the offing.:cray:
