  1.  Alderc 2.0 Well we just arrived back in North Derbyshire after a little break down Dorset. Went down last Sunday and straight on the beach, near Bournemouth Pier, very warm, packed beach, got sun burn, and a pint of cider at the beach bar with the sun loungers just up from Oceanarium. Stopped at Christchurch for Sunday night in Travelodge....28 quid...no brainer.

Monday we knew about weatherwise , but managed to get in Kingfisher Barn before the rain set in in just after lunch, then spent the afternoon in Poole Quay Wetherspoons 😁. Tuesday was Moors Valley Country Park. Wednesday was Corfe Castle and Village(drink at Greyhound) then Durlston Country Park, then few hours and a beer at the Riverside Pub at Wareham......gorgeous weather that day. Thursday was chase the brighter weather so went to Swanage area again...Kimmeridge, Church Knowle, then Swanage, followed by  when the sun came out around 3.30ish to  Studland Bay for an hour before the Sandbanks ferry to go to Compton Acres.

Great week. Expected a lot worse weather wise. Got loads in. Come back a bit  tanned 👍

I’d imagine if Oxford or Cambridge or somewhere in london had anything like the flooding in chesterfield today there’d be breaking news and insane coverage

    Absolutely.

Some of the videos on socials showing Chatsworth Road on Brampton are unbelievable. Feel so sorry for those affected down Brampton, and everywhere else as well that have also been affected over the last 24 hours or so.

  3. Not many seem to realise how much damage that little River Hipper causes in Chesterfield. It comes from the hills up Chatsworth way, all the way down to Brampton. The lay of the land causes havoc with such events as of today and 2007.

The Hipper also joins the River Rother near Horns Bridge (you can see on this screenshot taken just now, Horns Bridge bottom roundabout) which causes more chaos.Screenshot_20231020_230145_Maps.thumb.jpg.9be5ea67b08bb3dd17ed7b29720f277d.jpg

60 People rescued today from homes and businesses in Chesterfield by Derbyshire FRS

That was ridiculous down Brampton where they did the rescues.

Between what used to be the Grouse pub upwards......unreal. Absolute river..

I know I had to help friends and family I have managed to help them get back.

My friend was worrying as she didn't know where to go.

Luckily I knew the best way to try and that was go on to the Motorway at Heath and come off at 31 and to the back of Drake house retail park upto Gleadless then back down the parkway they made it home thankfully.

Sheepbridge is flooded as well near the factories from what I saw on Facebook too so the roads from South of Chesterfield to Dronfield are pretty much impassable.

It's basically, any dips in the roads get flooded.

Our lass drove from Dronfield to Hasland.....took 3 hours via various routes. Eventually ended up after negotiating Sheepbridge and Newbold area and Calow, going via Deepsick Lane (Arkwright to Temple Normanton) then through to Hasland

  6. Worse than 2007 now around here it seems.

Some of the videos on social media are unreal around Chesterfield, especially up Chatsworth Road and Horns Bridge. Very bad....unbelievable

57mm here since midnight, the rain band intensifying further. Worrying times. Chaos in Chesterfield this morning.

    Nobody can get anywhere.

The foot bridge that goes from the back of B&M into the retail park has the River Hipper now going OVER IT. River Rother rising fast with the sounds of it as well

Horns Bridge closed as it has flooded

Already seeing loads of reports of localised flooding on social media, radar really not looking good either!

No doubt Horns Bridge will fall victim

Looks all red on google traffic heading to it
