I'm relatively pleased that its isn't snowing here just yet, i'd rather get the much colder air first so that whatever falls settles. I've read through so many posts, I'm not actually sure I'm keeping track of all the snow potential.
Streamer potential - tonight and tomorrow
Front moving in from the channel
and the possiblity of more snow through to the end of the week?
This all sounds too good to be true.
-
Big flakes now mixing in with the rain here in Gravesend.
-
Just over 8cm here in Gravesend. Very pleasantly surprised.
Hope thats not the end of the snow and the cold spell.
-
Can't believe Gravesend and Medway towns have missed so much of the heavier snow yet again from this cold spell. It's now heavier 20 miles West of here and will be for much of the afternoon. Very annoying.
Just touching 4cm in Gravesend now. So i suppose i can't complain too much.
-
About a centimetre in Gravesend. Can't quite get under the heavier PPN atm.
-
The darker blue can't quite push in to Gravesend, its trying but decays just on the edge.
-
exactly what I am seeing....
It was always going to be, its only just nudging in to our area. It is also moving WNW, keep paitent.
-
It is intensifying quite rapidly over the last 20 minutes or so, lots of green echos over North East Kent.
-
It's for Monday.
-0.8c
Thanks. In that case what does it suggest for Monday?
-
I am more interested in this
What does this mean in regards to the snow we should be getting tomorrow?
-
I'm going for another shift east, but only slight.
-
Congratualtions to everyone with snow!
Can't believe in North and East Kent, there is a dusting or less. It just doesn't seem to be happening for us in Kent during this spell.
-
the next 3 hours are crucial DP dropage hours!!
clear those cruddy showers outt he way & get us in the clear cold air-
S
What do you think the likely outcome is for tonight? Are you hopeful of some settling snow in your area?
-
Finally given up on any snow now for Kent, it gets pushed further and further back!
Now that I have no expectations for snow, I will just enjoy what comes rain, snow or sun.

My feeling on the snow forecast is as i stated yesterday anywhere South of the Thames, it is likely to be rain. We all love ramping forecasts and i am like everyone else and want snow. However the reality is, at this moment in time it is likely to be rain/wintry mix.
Just a few days ago we were talking of snow last night, however that forecast changed to rain, we were told snow Monday night, this forecast has now changed to rain. We are now told that Wednesday appears to be the day for snow. This is why some people are very negative about the snow chances at the minute.
However there are still time for upgrades!!!! So ramp away with a slight dose of reality.

Nothing has changed 100%
Snow
Yes, for your part of the South East. However on this run Kent and East Sussex its likely to be rain on this run.
-
I wouldn't bet on it.
The 18z keeps the marginal conditions over us until the back end of the front now, the front moves through MUCH faster too. 1-5cm for lucky spots, massive downgrade, it seems the NMM might have actually been on the mark should these runs continue through into tomorrow..
I agree.

Latest GFS potential snowfall up to 54hrs
Kent will do well
I hope so, but the warm sector seems to have made a further movement to the East, so that isn't a good thing.
-
Sorry, but what are you talking about ?
I must be looking at a different set of charts.
Sorry, my post was a biased opinion for much of Kent! Fingers crossed for the rest of the South East though.
-
Hi, i am unable to access the charts at the moment.
In what way has the 18z downgraded?
The low has moved further east, therefore the warm sector has shifted further east.
Plus the PPN passes through much quicker.
I've only looked at the latest GFS run. Fingers crossed it all changes again.
-
GFS very disappointing with the latest run. A few days ago, today seemed hopeful for snow. Then it was Monday night, now thats getting away from us again. That is two runs where things have been downgraded. I don't want to sound downbeat, but i'm not particularly hopeful now.
There's still time for things to upgrade again, but this always seems to happen.

You mean their driveway
And preferably you wouldn't sue anyone, you'd just chide yourself for not being more careful.
Blame and claim culture, anyone?
No wonder the schools close when 0.001 cm of snow is on the ground...
You're probably not used to that
Im guessing you are not married, then! :
There is a marked difference between my wife and a stranger on a message board telling me what to do i'm afraid.
Anyway lets get back on topic! Pleased to see the snow showers now affecting parts of Kent.
-
Discuss, yes
Ramp... no!
Enjoy the fact that i'm being told what to do!
-
Seriously guys, listen to Steve M. If you live in east Kent then perhaps a cm or so, but that really is it I'm afraid.
It is not that we are expecting or going to be dissapointed without these showers producing much. It's just nice to see some showers feeding in. Are we not allowed to discuss any possibility?

Just tried to make the journey from Gravesend to Tunbridge wells. Gravesend was fine, but 3 miles south through Meopham and further is ludicrous. Got stuck twice near borough green. Still falling at a fast rate out there.
