Hi
Much risk for the Alfreton area do you think today?
Chris
I am all set and ready to chase now on what looks like being the first proper convective day of the season. I am hoping that more storms can develop a bit further north.

Well no snow here yet but current Dew Point is -1.2c and Temp 1.9c. Wonder what this area will be like as we have a bit of height for this area.

Just been on Midlands thread and their local forecasts suggesting mainly rain for them so there is certainly a lot of confusion around
amazing conflict between the models to say how close we are to the event.
I need a rest from the Midlands thread as its looking very near to it being Snow or Rain event

A few snow showers just passed here

How many would we expect to see tonight if the weather is good and away from the lights.

So are we due anymore storms this afternoon and tonight in this area
-
Are you chasing it LOL
Wow, about an hour ago was under an intense storm near to Eastwood in Notts. Most of lightning high based but almost constant with a deep growling thunder, although considering it was overhead the thunder was not that loud. As it passed over it brought marble sized hail and torrential rain. Some great CG's as I drove after it from its rear. Now sat near to Kirkby, Notts and its moved off to the north.

Cloud building to north of Alfreton here. What a change in temps from this morning. Fingers cross for tonight
Chris
Thank you, just not seen it set up like that before with winds at 180 degrees alongside each other.
Lots of cells going up in southern areas now, and these are set to move north. Maybe more to develop too through the coming hours.

Hi Supacell hows it looking for Alfreton area this afternoon and tonight
Chris
Personally I think I will go to bed about 7pm and set my alarm for about 1am, that way I get 6 hours sleep so can still cope with work tomorrow even if I am out filming early hours thunderstorms. However, considering the potential for tomorrow around this area...... - if you catch ma drift?

Just east of Alfreton

Guys,
What do you think?
I have to pick up my sister in Alfreton and take her to see my brother in law who is eriously ill in Sheffield hospital.
I have been told that the M1 will be closed by the M18 junction. Doea anyone have the times of this closure
If it is closed what is the best route from Alfreton to Sheffield considering the snow conditions?
PS I am not afraid of the conditions and have the day to do it!!
What are the main roads like in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire?

Hi all,

-
Metoffice update had light to heavy snow later on here and has just been downgraded to light snow now at 9pm
-
Cheers,
I don't like to post to many questions on here but just wanted to know as I thought it was only going west.
West and then north is perfect- but yes it will go north.
-
Hi all, I have been looking back at the netweather radar runs and cannot see the band moving any further of a line between derby and the wash. Is it ment to move north later on or will it all go west

Which GFS run is the best one that as I am a bit confused
