Okay I'm walking back in here, the only decent storm I had was that one of the 1st of July, only a few thundery showers (like 1 strike every 5 minutes) after that.
THE WEATHER IS b0rK3d? (that means broken btw! )

I'M OUTTA HERE! I WAS OUT CYCLING AND HAD AN EXCELLENT DISPLAY OF LIGHTNING! LOTS OF CG'S! WOOOHOO! SCREW YOU GUYS I'M GOING HOME
-
Looks like I could get storms on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, but my guess is only on Wednesday I will actually get a storm.
-
Have to say it does look exceptionally impressive for your region though over the next week.....
I've just checked the GFS charts, all the instability fades away as it gets to Newcastle
I hate this crap city and this crap country, I'm moving to Australia or America as soon as I can
Sorry if I offended anyone but I really hate where I live.

So is there any chance for Newcastle getting a storm some time in the next 2 weeks?
Also what's the difference between a thunderstorm and thundery showers?
I really thought we would get a storm last week, we had like 600 capes, we must need more!
I'm gonna convince everyone in newcastle to have BBQ's and leave their kettles on outside... maybe it will do something.
Has anyone observed any of the conditions needed for storms in newcastle? Obviously 600 j/kg isn't enough, what CAPE+LI values are needed for us to get storms?
Sorry about my badly organised post

yeah, one good thing came out of this: at least he didn't have to cook the cows

What date are you looking at here? I've been looking at the GFS chart and havn't seen anything that would look like a plume setup
If you tell me the date maybe I skipped over it... I hope I skipped over it

Ah, I drive(I'm not the driver btw <_< ) past that pub every Sunday. Its annoying how much the weather can change in just a couple of miles
-
Hmm, if there was an outbreak I wouldn't be at the computer, I would probably be filling 8gb worth of SD cards with pictures ^_^

Where about in Newcastle are you? I witnessed a cracking storm yesterday (it wasn't overhead but there a was a brilliant display in the distance and this was enough to satisfy me! )
EH!??!? I live in South Gosforth, that is like 1 mile away, how did that happen?!?!? I'm sure storms just avoid me on purpose!!!
I used to live in High Heaton, on Holystone Crescent, where abouts in High Heaton are you?
Oh, and here is proof that stuff avoids me:

I've been waiting for a storm since around September last year, I really thought I would get one over the weekend, the 'Will it thunder?' page said like 56% for my area. And I was forecast 500-600j/kg of CAPE and -3 LI.
But nothing, the clouds came in dark, but there was only light rain, nothing else interesting
Over the past 9 months I have had a few hail showers, but that is about it
But since it is June, does that mean I'm garaunteed to get a storm? I'm in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
I can't wait until I can leave this club

Ah okay, its still the best UK radar on the internet!
-
I subscribed to the NetWeather radar last night, but the radar is delayed by 10-15 minutes, I thought it was supposed to be 5 minutes?
Whats going on?

At around 12:10pm, big towering cumulus congestus(possible cumulonimbus) clouds. At around 12:30pm, hail fell approx 3/8th's of an inch, and torrential rain. It ended at around 12:40pm.

I haven't discussed or studied weather in a while (I got bitten by the cycling bug), but now that ice has came along and stopped me, I want to know what's going on
I've looked at the jet stream forecast, and it looks like starting tonight and tomorrow we will be under a ridge, what could this lead to? Will the ice go away?
Sorry if my terminology or understanding isn't correct, I haven't studied weather in a while.
Cheers,
Sam Kennedy
