Snowing big flakes here but ground too wet for it to stick.
-

very cold here and a few snow flurries-i wonder what tomorrow will bring?
-
-9.3 here at the moment!!

Yes north and west yorkshire in for a top up tonight, according to NAE models. 2-5cm's looks likely, and the snow will push into the peak district/southern pennines towards dawn, continuing southwestwards, eventually fizzling out over wales.
Looks like we could see a top up tonight!
does that include my area tonight?
-
do you think any snow will reach me tonight?
-
Light Snow showers now filtering into to the region from the east.
This looks similar to the setup on the 17th 18th dec when we had 3 to 4 inches during the night.
Good luck everyone.
its snowing a little here too. hope we get some more before kids go back to school!

Snow getting a bit heavier now, temp 0.4oC. Not quite heavy enough to scrap going into work this evening though, unless it changes dramatically before 21:00
you look like you've got more than me!!! i'd stay at home if i where you.

May be a sign of how desperate we are for snow here but i'm delighted with the covering we have here. If we had not had the hr or so of rain/sleety mix first then there would have been a better covering. Its the first time we have had grass and roads covered here since christmas day 3 or 4 years ago. Oh and its still snowing.
covering of snow here but just about stopped now

A brief period of feeble light snow that melted upon impact with the ground has now turned to drizzle.
Hpwever it looks like some other parts of the nw are recieving some heavier ppn, mostly areas over high ground.
Hot*Snow
just started snowing here!!! bring it on it'l prob stop now.

it is the dew point that is the most important.they say snow can fall at 5C provided the dew point is low enough
thanks! its taking me a while to get my head around this weather.lol.

Most of the snow has thawed here, there's the odd patch here and there, and quite a lot still on a neighbours shed which is always in the shade lol
I'm hoping temperatures don't rise too much if/when we do get any precipitation coming our way from the rain band that's coming in from the west now. It appears to be heading over Northern Ireland and set for Scotland, we might be too far south to get anything decent.
me being a newbie on here-wots the best temperature for snow to fall and stick?

Yep-skies clearing here i think we are in for a harsh frost tonight.
For those further NW who missed out today hopefully your turn will come sometime over the next 5 or 6 days UKMO is pretty awesome and pretty darn cold.
hope we do get a little bit sometime soon. my kids are desperate to build a snowman in our garden. seems like everywhere has had snow apart from our area.
-
