Minus 11.2 overnight and still minus 10.1 which makes it the coldest night for over 10 years.
Was a balmy -12.9 overnight here and only -11.2 when I left for work! Coldest night here since 2013. Snow depth of 62cms.

you're rural up North. You can cope, right?
Definitely can cope as used to snow but can’t say the same for everyone

What contiguous an orange warning from the MetO? Had heavy snow here about 75% of the time from 8am till now, some local communities have been cut off and the roads have been terrible. Or do we need to be either down south or in a city to warrant such a warning?

Had heavy snow here in Hexham since before 1.

Heavy snow shower here now and going off the amount on cars that were clear last night, had about 2 inches overnight in Hexham. Heading home today where I’m expecting around 18-20 inches.

It's Hull bound anyway.
Not if it goes straight east-west

Just drove from Prudhoe to Hexham and sleet all the way falling in windscreen

I’ve made the decision to stay with my parents in Hexham because I have a vital week at work next week so can’t afford to get stranded. When I left home this morning there was about 8 inches on the ground and it was snowing lightly.
As for the extended forecast the METO seem confident the North Sea snow machine will keep on going for a while longer!

You will have to get some photos up, think you'll be buried up there
I will try. MetO app has us for constant heavy snow from Friday night to the ending of the forecast. If they are right on top of what’s here now it will be epic. On a side note it’s very ironic that while the snow conditions across the Pennines and Scotland are as good as ever the ski centres have to close for covid!

I think we could all see some memorable snowfall in the next week. ECM snowfall maps have 85 cms here for a weeks time and we currently have around 25cms before the main action gets going! Exciting times ahead for us lot!

As the current cold spell seems to be ending today I thought I’d look back on how it was up here. Started Christmas Eve and lasted till today. Coldest temp was -11.2 last Friday night. Coldest day max was -3.2 on Thursday gone. Snow on the ground for 15 days(and counting) and max depth was 26cms as of last night. Can probably add a few cms during the night but rain now. Overall I’d say 6/10 up here in my part of Northumberland.

It was -7 here when I left for work at 5:45 so probably got to around -8 around 7am. Roads were very tricky I’d say 4x4 only until you reach a main road then ok.

been snowing in Hexham even low down for 2 hours and now a good 2 inches at river level. Heard near 10 inches at home so light be interesting drive later
-
Speaking to people at work it seems that as little as 20-30 metres height difference has meant snow or rain in places. Hexham is snowy until you get closer to the river.
-
Just been out to animals and had about 8 inches here overnight and still snowing quite heavy 7/10

Not seen temperatures this warm for a while up here. 6 on Monday will feel tropical. Had snow on the ground here since before Christmas. Will it all melt before the next cold spell?
