Overcast, grey, temp hovering around 15C, nothing to write home about.
Much the same here at the most easterly point.....15.4, DP10.2, humidity rising with 8/8's, though trying to dissipate.

Moderate Risk atm, but I expect it will go high with 45% probabilities - with risk of long-track strong tornadoes.
Oh well, another night the missus is on her own while i'm up watching the stream. Priorities!
Seriously, i am really looking forward to this chase.

Is it me, or is the NW 5min radar stuck on 0910? I can't get it past that point, which is a bit irritating on a day like today.

Well, FINALLY we have some activity in NE Suffolk! Just witnessed the most amazing mammatus. (I don't get out much) This is where the TS line goes off into the N Sea.

With the 2009 storm chase now drawing to a close, I just wanted to start a thread to say thanks to Paul Sherman, our staff members John, Ian, Tom and Nick plus all of the other chasers this year for all of their efforts with the streaming, video uploads, photos and reports.
Despite the quiet conditions at times particularly toward the end of May, the team has always been on the money in terms of getting on whatever storms are available, and that coupled with all of the updates etc has made it great to follow from the UK, and judging by the reviews we've had from our guests, even better to be involved in first hand!

Well....I'll tell y'all my side of the story......I discovered the live feed by accident while trying to find some charts, on 29th Apr. (First stroke of lightni..oops, mean luck) Realised they had just got into the swing of tour 1, and there were to be TWO MORE tours as well. I had just started 3 weeks holiday, and not planned to go anywhere. (2nd stroke of luck.) Recently made a decision to concentrate on more generalised forecasting away from my "safe" area of the uk and especially looking at severe wx. (Yep, 3rd stroke!)
You can understand my obsessive behaviour then towards NW chase 2009, as not only had i stumbled upon live virtual chasing (which honestly never occurred to me previously) but a group of "local lads" (and ladesses) and their experiences, to boot, coupled with my love of America.
I feel as if i've been on the night shift, with things starting around 15-1600 BST going until the same time 12hrs later. The mod's and regulars have probably noticed my name lurking around the chase forums sometimes 18-20hrs a day. It has certainly been an experience from this end of the stream. Yes, there have been times when i've felt like kicking in the screen when the stream drops, like when they were approaching the Breckenridge cell and the next thing i saw was the after dark CG/IC's at the back edge.
And the TWO lessons i've learnt...........
i) I now know where Childress and Abilene is
ii) Never try to eat a 72oz steak AND shrimp! Only Ian can do that.
Seriously guys, thanks for putting on a great show. You ALL contributed to making a great experience.
Roll on next year, and i'm still consulting my accountant about feasibility studies to go in person. :winky:

We are currently heading SE from Childress, TX to get in position for storms to fire in N central Texas later ahead of SE moving cold front dropping down from the High Plains ... sfc charts pick out an outflow boundary from overnight storms we saw flashing to the north moving east across Oklahoma. The outflow boundary lies roughly SW-NE from Big Spring, TX through Witchita Falls, TX up to Ardmore, OK area - we are heading towards Witchita Falls and we can already see cu line towards this OFB.
Alot of the NSSL circus on the road SE too with their probe vehicles and dopplers on wheels after staying over the road in Childress ... were on the livestream just now with all their equipment on their roofs.
Well, after yesterdays busted and sea-bound storms in the E of the Uk, i for one, am looking forward to some action on here over the next few hours.

Yes, Devils Tower was most definately used in the film Close Encounters. It happens to be my most favourite film (since i was 12'ish) (40'ish now!) It has been my lifelong goal to get to "the Tower" even though ive been to the US twice. I'm seriously considering going on the NW chase next year, and then after, hire a car myself and travel the "short" distance to NE Wy. Excellent piccies anyway Gorky. :lol:
Incidentally, the cloud effects in the film, before the advent of CGI, still look astounding. Talk about visible convection!

Looks to me like they are near Decatur, 30 miles NW of Ft Worth .... yep, defo coming into Decatur - recognise it having been there so often.

So just to get my bearings folks, Paul and Tour 2 are initially headed for the same area as last night, ie: I20 towards Abilene? My gps hasn't refreshed since i lost them last night headed into the cell. (sort of)

Working on shadows, they seem to be going West now, this is very perspicacious as there are a few cells going up between DFW and Abilene.
Yep, they're springing up nicely along the I20 corridor now

Looks like the cam has moved. Looks strange after 10 days looking straight ahead, now looking slightly off to the left and lower. Keep wanting to push it back centrally lol.

I'm guessing you're meaning the night at the museum ad, it's for a film and is narrated by an american but it is for the UK as it's being released here soon.
Unfortunately with the high cost of bandwidth, the ads are vital to allow us to use video freely on the site and only last 15 seconds while the stream is connecting, so hopefully not too annoying..

Hi all.
Well, after seeing the Chicken Bites ad' around 40-50 times now, ("Ohh-hhh")
anything else is just bliss - for now. BTW, really enjoyed watching tour 1's adventures. Looking forward to the next batch of "lucky people" later today. It never occurred to me to watch chasing via streaming video, until last week. A new facet to my hobby!

Glad i'm now a non-member of the no-storms club! A few brief flashes and bangs from the line that moved E wards through Norfolk/N Suffolk. By the time it got to me on the coast, not much energy left. Rainfall rate impressive though, up to 40 odd mm/hr.
