Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Wednesday 13th February 2008:

All change for the fog.

Melton Mowbray 06:30 > - 0.6'c

The fog that had been plaguing the Yorkshire section of my commute all week moved south for this morning's journey from Melton Mowbray to York.

First thing this morning in Melton the car was once again coated with a layer of ice. Apart from that it was clear and cold. Driving out of the Leicestershire town the fog set in as soon as I had climbed the first hill to Thorpe Arnold on the A607.

The thick fog pretty much remained, with visibility down to around 25 meters, all the way to Grantham. There was a clearer interlude through Waltham on the Wolds, here the top three quarters of the TV transmitter mast was visible, with the bottom quarter in the fog.

On board the train the fog was thick towards Newark, but then it broke to leave a sunny journey through to York.

On arrival into York this morning, it is clear and bright.

Temperature at 06:30 was - 0.6'C, lowest recorded overnight temperature -0.6'C.

Tomorrow; Turning cloudy with drizzle; sounds like a grey day.
