MON: I'll stay at home in this...

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Monday 10th March 2008:

I'll stay at home in this...

Melton Mowbray 06:30hrs 6.3'C

The storm arrived over Melton Mowbray around 0530 this morning with a strong gusty wind. I have the day off work today so no commute to York; probably not a bad thing as high winds and electric trains don't really go together!

At 0840 the heavy rain band appears to have cleared although the satellite image at 0830 shows the end of cloud band about 70 miles to the west of Leicestershire. I wouldn't say the wind is that strong yet, will wait and see what happens. It looks like the eye is heading towards the Bristol Channel right now on its easterly track.

Temperature at 06:30 was 6.3'C, lowest recorded overnight temperature 3.3'C. Pressure at 06:30 was 957 hPa (falling)

Tomorrow: More of the same…
