Summary

Definitely a week of contrasts there has been some very heavy snow over higher resorts in the Alps, very impressive for this time of year, and also after some resorts have closed at the end of the season. This makes a marked contrast to last season which ended much milder. The snow was though largely limited to higher slopes and it has turned milder towards the end of the week.

Winds this week are set to come from a South Westerly or South Easterly direction bringing warm weather with it. Freezing levels are set to be above 2000m throughout, and above 2500m for France and Switzerland, Western parts of Germany and Italy and above 3000m for Austria, and Eastern parts of Germany and Italy. There will be variation but the weather pattern for next week looks well set.

It looks mostly dry to set the weekend, but rain looks likely to push in from the South West on Sunday. For the most of next week, some showers are possible, most of these bubbling up during the afternoon and fading away overnight.

I hope you have found these blogs useful and hopefully these will return Late Autumn 2012.
