Just 30 miles north. Pretty please with a cherry on top.

I don't know why adults spend hour upon hour in the Model thread.
Surely there are better hobbies? Why spend all that time and emotional energy on an outcome you have absolutely no control over.
Genuinely mentally and physically unhealthy.

Was there? Maybe my memory is going (!) but I cannot recall having felt as disappointed in a weather outcome as I do now! Perhaps I shouldn’t let it get to me! I have dealt with far worse things than disappointing weather, but I was looking forward to a nice lot of snow….
I hear you. I haven't seen that it's all gone wrong to be honest so I'll wait and see.
At least with summer storms you get the possiblity no more than 10 days out, so less of a build up to a possible let down.
Everyones happier because of the sun and usually (not always) catching one is a car ride away for the more keen chasers.
With snow the signals and excitement for some starts late autumn. Way to long to be invested in something we have no control over. Just feels bleak at the moment.

I have been on here for nearly 20 years, although I don’t post much. This has to be the biggest let-down I have ever seen. Nor have I been able to get any sense from the MAD thread - the same runs have some people saying that there will be lots of snow and some people saying it will be dry. I have decided that I will refer to the Met office forecasts if I want any sense. I am really peed off with how I have allowed myself to be put through all this. NEVER AGAIN!
Pretty sure there was a BFTE modelled by the big three and disappeared with about 48 hours to go a few years ago.

I ventured into the Model thread but it's too chaotic.
I ventured into the Model Highlights thread but it's too technical.
I'll hang out here. Just let me know at T12 if I might get snow. Thanks

you cant make it up in the MAD thread, this morning the ECM didnt have a clue, doesnt model upstream well, cant trust it as so many differences run to run. now its thrown out a good run its everyone's darling again
And they will do it all again tomorrow .. its a parody of itself at this point
They're like cats. Sit by the warmest fire of the day (or hour)

What channel you watching? Fox weather live?

I'm watching a USA severe weather live feed on YouTube with 36,000 others.
Blizzards, flash flooding, 90 mph wind gusts and tornado warnings.
I wouldn't trade in my 10 minutes of graupel from yesterday for all their excitement.

I can't imagine a worse hobby than snow chasing/Model watching.
They spend hours looking at charts, trying to understand the nuances of all the signals etc but are completely at the mercy of factors out of their control as to a favourable outcome that history dictates rarely happens in the UK.
Seriously bad for mental health and real social interaction.

in the Model thread again. Up and down and around and around.

I don't know how people in the model thread have the time or stamina to live in there for 18 hours a day.
I saw one very active member with 3k posts admit they didn't know what a east or west based NAO was yet was happy to give frame by frame analysis of each run.
I just want a 78/79 Dec/Jan or a Dec 2010 spell and if not I can't be bothered with a transient snow to rain scenario or a pot luck 10 mile wide streamer. If that happens great, if not I'll switch off until the summer and hope for a few storms.

Just sometimes, rather cruelly, I hope it all goes wrong and we get mild SWlies instead.
Get the popcorn and enter the Model thread!

I find the amount of emotional energy wanting snow is not worth the payoff. I've kinda given up on it.
Much happier to wait for the spring and summer and look for decent storm setups to get a fix of extreme (by UK standards) weather.

I haven't experienced hail for longer than I can remember. Be nice to see/hear some tonight.

I've decided to bite the bullet and head down towards the southeast. I am not sure where I'm going yet other than south east.
Hope you get something.

I love how the areas that usually hog the storms are asking for more
And why not?

Yep, certainly is weird looking at those sunshine total maps but I'm telling you, at least here it's been sunny almost every single day since April.
Storms forecast for pretty much everywhere in the next few days...except here! I think I'm gonna write this season off and look forward to next year!
Still, you never know, maybe the forecast will change slightly with storms from the west moving more eastwards and storms from the east moving more westward. One can only hope.
I'm in Ashford and it wasn't sunshine everyday. It was bleak.
Perhaps I'll move to Bexley del Sol. Looks like you have a great microclimate.
