  1. Hi all The NWS has just issued their weekly forcast and they expect the monsoon to start towards end of this coming week the high pressure system is set to setup shop in the 4 corners region by next saturday. with the increasing chace of thunderstorms spredding from east to west. here is the link to NWS forcast page. http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=psr&product=AFD&format=CI&glossary=1 thanks for the update paul it looks like things are starting to happen. paul h the storm fisherman
  2. Hi Clair our best option at the moment is DELTA/ KLM @ £756 LGW DEP 09:00 ARRIVE PHOENIX 17:38 VIA ATLANTA AND A 11.15 DEP PHOENIX ARR LGW 7.40 AM AGAIN VIA ATLANTA the fare was on the opdoo web site or BA at £921 gone up again. i will wait till we get green light. keep the faith paul 50 days and counting
  3. Hi all Here is this weeks air fare watch BA nonstop £880 approx US AIRWAYS £740 approx 1 stop KLM/DELTA £750 approx 1 stop A few post have suggested the may be some cheaper flights available what they don't really tell you is that the price is without taxes etc or just double the prices at is clse to the mark if it still available and the cheaper price was for available in the dim and distant past but they say that leave that price on there as it may return. however talking to an ex travel agent friend of mine the airlines usally drop their fares about 6 weeks before the date your going to travel to clear any remaining seats so keep an eye out on those websites. note to powers that be the need to book airline seats in getting greater if we are not to pay through the nose for a seat as it it already as expensive time of year . hint hint i am now on hoilday in france from tommorow but i will have internet access . with only just over 7 weeks to go i am offically now in full ramping holiday mode. paul The storm fisherman
  4. Hi all The talk over on stormtrack is the mongollan rim this year, the one concern is the current lack of moisture the dewpoints are well below ave at the moment hopefuly this will climb near to normal when the gom flow kicks in hopefuly later this month one to watch. ps i write this paul s is on tv again it4v and 2008 tour paul h
  5. Hi Tom i think it might be in this case the GRAND CANYON :D i would love to catch a thunder storm at the canyon.
  6. Hi Claire thanks for link there seems to be some deals to be had but they are over the phone . i wonder if the prices are available when we go to book but the wild fire situation is the problematic one at the moment. paul.
  7. Hi all Now that tornado season is all but over for this year for those of uswho want a storm fix or can not wait till next year the next stop is coming up in over just 8 weeks in phoenix current flight prices as of today Sunday @17.40 are klm/delta via atalanta retrun via detroit for £752 (lands about 20 mins after the ba flight) there is a number of options around this price at the moment i have not mentioned us airways as the the return is over 27 hours and their standards arenot to too great either. or BA non stop £904 Because of the BA prices keep rising, i think at the momment i will be going via delta as the ba prices seem not to be falling but keep on rising supply and demand i suppose i will update with current flight prices each sunday or if there are any good savings to be had watch this space. paul the storm fisherman
  8. hi all for those of us hoping to go to arizona in aug the prices of flights to USA have taken a fall today 1 stop £499 with dutch airline KLMnon stop with ba is still £830. but after this i think their fares will fall. will update is any more notable falls occur but going in right direction. paul
  9. Hi Claire yes i know how infurating flight delays can be as fly with continental last year on the way back from usa i was stuck for 3 days in houston texas but at least i got to vist kenedy space and mission control center . i will probably fly BA as the cost difference is not too great although i can not speak for paul s but he has hinted that he will fly with BA as well but until the deposits are paid i will not book my flight yet as i see that the cost on the ba flight does not seem differ that much . but if the BA flight is not an option or to expensive; of all the flight options i have looked at the best for cost and time is delta from gatwick to atlanta a 4hr layover in atlanta get in to phoenix approx 1 hr later than the ba flight but it is a 9am depart from gatwick. and i have flown with delta apart from last year; for a few years out to the states and not really had any issues with them and i trust them a bit more than the others . paul h
  10. Hi duckeyh I have been keeping a close eye on ave prices are appox £850 non stop BA and £770 1 stop . it seems that these prices are subject to the price of fuel going up and down as well as the dollar to £ exchange rate best time to look is monday -tusedays early mornings when the airlines release their weekly seat allocations to the market . If you have not already looked go to a web comparison site called http://www.kayak.co.uk/ just checked web site ba non stop £797 multi airlines 1 stop £761 cheapest single airline (united) 1 stop £770 via newark (new york) paul the storm fisherman ps forgot to mention that the higher cost of the ba non stop flights is off set by the savings in flight times unless budget is really stretched.

  20. Hi all for what its worth i have found cash to just be as effective in the states as credit cards either visa or mastercard but more so american express if anybody is looking to get a credit card take a look at lloyds air miles duo card as it is both american express and master card but you get more air miles if you use american express depending on your spend and repaymnets could mean a free flight back to the usa next time. it all depends how much cash your comfortable in carrying around with you?
  21. I never could read the large print ok then i have the time booked off at work. i take it your flying direct with ba flight 289 @ 14.35 on the tuseday?
