  1. Unbroken sunshine, cloud out west over the coast. Is -3C. Just spoken to some folk who live in a valley nearby, they said it was -14C this morning!
  2. Just under -4C when I went out about half hour ago, clear with light breeze. Still a complete snow cover on the fields despite the sunshine from roughly 4" 1st Jan.
  3. Theft by finding probably. They sling you in a freezing cold cell, take your mug shot, all your finger prints and swab you for DNA.
  4. Top one, nice one Karl and Paul. Visit everyday too much. This is what the internet is about.
  5. Looking at both 12Z and 18Z GFS it looks showery to me tomorrow. But maybe hail more than snow? North Wales looks to be in with a fair bit of action. Maybe South coast too? Edit: You don't recon showers tomorrow Jackone?
  6. Looks like quite a convective day for Wales tomorrow according to this storm risk chart. Not seeing much at all on the precip chart at the same time though. I'll assume it's broken. Slight bit of graupel? about this morning, which is still there now where the sun hasn't shone.
  7. Earlier, whilst Netweather was transferring its core servers from Sheffield to somewhere in China, I was looking at the GFS 18Z and I got some Deja vu. I remember myself at some time in the past being convinced that the air (which was aloft at the time) coming from the West would give us snow. More experienced netweather people told me it would be modified (made warmer) by the Atlantic/Irish sea and would fall as rain. I found this very unlikely and told everyone I know to 'Take Action', because of the heavy snowfall that was coming our way. Duuuurrrrr:oops: To cut a long story short, it really does look a bit wet for Saturday, unless you are very elevated or away from the sea?
  8. Very clear starry night, calm, almost down to -6C at 550' ASL and 10 miles from the Irish sea as the crow flies. Sort of great - but also really using the fuel.
  9. Meto warnings for snow in every county of Wales, exept Ceredigion (lol, you guys! - I'll be near Bristol anyway) for Sunday. Meto Warnings Edit: My mistake, the warning is for ice.
  10. 18Z GFS ground temp Operational are all mild outliers for N Wales upto Xmas. S Wales the op is about in the middle of the pack. What could it mean? Perhaps nothing - but nice to see that a white Xmas isn't totally out of the equation. Looking forward to the snow Saturday PM:D onwards ...
  11. That was fairly wild for a time. Seems quite calm all of a sudden. Lid blew off the compost heap - nothing that can't be fixed.
  12. Forecast SKEW-T shows very high values for TT index (Total Totals). 58 - 60 for the UK tomorrow. Can't say I really understand though. SKEW-T HABYHINTS Some strong gusts this afternoon here and currently.
  13. Not got much time to look in depth at the moment, but I just flicked through the netweather forecast for Keswick for the week. Tuesday and Wednesday look terrible and not great on the other days either.
  14. Large area of precip heading into Ireland from the SW at the moment, moving NE? I can't see that on the 12Z precip chart.
  15. Video from Cockermouth Just heard on BBC radio Cumbria that the RNLI are heading to Cockermouth to assist. Video of the High Street? Cockermouth
  16. Late tonight according to netweather forecast - back again Saturday afternoon. 5 severe flood warnings from Environment Agency in NW England. Edit: 12Z forecast just out shows it decaying this evening, so not long now perhaps.
  17. River Torrent must be quite impressive when it has a warning.
  18. Lashings of rain shown for W Scotland from Wednesday afternoon onwards according to latest GFS precip charts. Meto though seem to think this will be more W England, Wales.
  19. I feel that we should all chip in and get some sort of special award or medal for you. Well done!
