HI Pottyprof,
There are countless times throughout the World of reoccuring ghosts seen by unconnected witnesses that dont even know of any previous sightings of the same ghost. The vast majority of ghost sightings follow certain rules which are remarkably similar throughout the World and differant cultures.I dont know whats going on but something is.I have problems with ghosts being spirits howevedr as their are wearing clothes and I know of no human ghost ever been seen naked. Also there are countless accounts of inanimate ghosts including aircraft, cars, lorries, houses, hedges and even a ghostly hole in the ground!

HI Snowkissed,
I like many thought most orbs were faults in the negative (although that doesnt explain why they can also apprear on video film)and with the onset of digital that they would dissapear with film, but if anything digital seems to show more orbs.I dont think these orbs are spirits but I find them interesting all the same.In general though I have a very open mind about ghosts and other paranormal phenonoma,Im a scientific person but there is a great deal of eveidence to support the exsistance of ghosts,in fact their a very commen occurance much more than most people realise. It would be great if the scientific community would study ghosts but of course most scientists are too frightened of ridicule.

HI Snowkissed,
After 30 years of film and darkroom photography I never came across a single orb but within a year of going digital in 2005 I captured one.I was photographing my neices dogs, she was upset that one of here dogs died recently so could it be the spirit of the dead dog or just a de-focused water droplet from the nearby river?
This is a enlargement of the Orb section of the photograph,I hope it comes out OK.
Regards Les.
PS The image wont upload into the board why are some forums dead easy to submit images and others bloody difficult? Of course being on steam driven dialup that keeps disconnecting doesnt help!If your interested in the image Ill be pleased to Email it to you.

HI All,
Going back to the typo error at the begining of this thread I have a old 1960' Shortland aneroid that actually goes down 870millibars .Does anyone know the lowest ever pressure in Britain the figure 912mbs seems to spring to mind from a old Guinness Book Of Records from years ago but Im not sure(it could of been 922mbs ).You cant check records like that these days from GBOR's its too full of sport.

HI Shuggee,
I dident know there was a abattoir in Dalkeith, but being a vegetarian I dont take interest in such things .I thought I saw a similar more extensive glow the night before while walking the dogs the Moon just now is making dark sky observation very difficult. Thanks for confirming that I'm seeing things!
Regards Les.

HI Steve,
I only observe the Sun in white light but I must admit Ive not bothered looking for a while now(apart from occassionally glances with filtered binoculars),you can only tell yourself that a blank Sun is in itself interesting for so long!

HI CR,
Thanks for the reply,I have seen a few displays over the years at my site in Midlothian a couple quite bright and colourful, but that was before digital cameras. If their difficult to image lets hope we get plenty of practice soon .
Regards and clear auroral skies Les.

HI There,
At around 20:00 I saw a couple of greenish patches low in the NW sky that could of been Auroral activity. Its difficult because of the full Moon just now.I tried a couple of 15 second images of the area to see if the camera could bring any colour out.Veiwing with the camera screen only I think I can detect a reddish tinge in there but nothing conclusive.

HI Osbourne,
Thats the way I calculate means I add the minimum and maximum figures and divide by two,I seem to be in the minority as others seem to divide the mean maximas and mean minimas by two which gets a slightly differant result.

HI There,
Ive only ever seen two moonbows the second one about 15 years ago I could just see colour in it.Its my ambition to image one along with forked lightning.

HI There,
In 24 hours over saturday/sunday the pressure dropped by 34mbs the recovery in pressure is only a third as fast with only a 12mb rise in 24 hours. Hopfully the slow recovery may mean another long settled spell, though Im not holding my breath.
Regards Les.

HI There,
First Id like to say hello as its my first post on this forum. Ive a Weather station ordered from a firm called Machine Mart.As a regular customer I can take advantage of the occasional VAT free days. The station I purchased is the Clarke WPC150 it has the usual stuff as well as rain gauge and wind meter. My neighbour got his a couple of days ago and it looks a handy piece of kit.I should get mine by the end of the week.Clarke products are usually very good quality and quite cheap(I have a Clarke min/max digital thermometer which is excellant),and Ive also puchased Clarke power tools and garden machinary over the years.VAT free the weather station cost a mere £59.98 or £68.98 with the VAT and Ill keep you updated when I have it up and running but meanwhile Ill try to get some feedback from Jim(my neighbour)tomorrow.
Regards Les.
