Just heard a train has hit a tree in the dorrington area (near Hereford). Work on the rails myself and can say it'll be a manic day!

I got a bit excited too! Can't believe I even wrote down the whole q/w = 9gWq crap! Haha! The second time I did get mr astley and just laughed! +1 CC

And if you type in all the Qs and Ws you end up with a Taylor swift video!!! :-/

Where is Crewe cold? It's belting it down with wet snow in Crewe, starting to get a covering! He must be busy watch the lamp post!

looks like a streamer setting up,still forming, wonder if this is what is meant to bring light snow to southern parts of the region
C.S
Where are you seeing this streamer CS?

It's quite unusual that i have heard nothing through work , i work for the NHS and we usually get notified of any forecast severe weather so that contingency plans can be made , however not a peep so far , in fact if it wasn't for me everyone would be non the wiser....oh god i'm gonna feel such a prat on Friday when it rains
I work for the railways and had emails regarding Friday, they get their forecasts/alerts from meteo group and are fairly confident of disruptions!

Just had a rumble of thunder here. totally out of the blue. Hadn't been checking the radar, just looked & it looks like a cell just popped up to our south east & moved just north of my location as we've had no rain.
Can confirm that! Had a couple of flashes and the rain is very intense! where is crewe cold??? probably at the window!!!

Further to the above...it is on the lightning detector...at 14.45 stuck just east of Crewe! Finally...the sweet smell of a storm
-
Just had an absolutely torrential downpour here- thought I may hear some thunder but none was heard in the end.
Agreed! Saw the the flash (so I thought) and that was a very loud lorry if it wasn't thunder

White over here in Crewe, very heavy! Looks like a decent streamers materalising!! :-)

Light Snow in Sandbach....is the reminantes of that front pivoting???
CG
-
Just out of interest, where/when is the front due to occlude with the cold front. I ask this because of the speed of the warm front compared to the cold front!
Cheers

where do you think the least snowiest place is in the North West?
....CREWE
-
Huge anvil north of me...say manchester way heading east...some one is having fun under that!
Anybody know of wind directions today, are we expecting a more northerly from west element soon?

Crewe Cold
It was that cell over to the south west...moving over nantwich towords stoke! I get a good 360 view here in the signal box, over crewe to the north and south over staffordshire, but the CG was in the cell south! watching more towers grow over to the north west!
CG
Strike star picked it up as well

Convection certainly getting going now over this side of the country...current have a storm overhead, seen a couple of Cg and a fair few cracks! Keep them coming!

Guys
See here - if you work in London and are hoping to get home to EA via trains, you may want to take action very soon!

Have you ever read such boll**ks in your life!!!!!!!
No it's not....being a signalman, and being on duty now, it's a huge problem....ever seen a track buckling???? search it on you tube! If you want to be on a train when that happens underneath it, be my guest, hence the reduced speeds etc! Track can only expand so much before it give's way!

Ac Cas field now beginning to unify across Cheshire as planned. Can see it myself from the SW facing window and its no doubt a collective cloud thicker than the lower Ac Cas surrounding it. Buxton peaking at 23.8'c, which may be enough to push the cap even this early on.
So from that, you think there are possibities of storms? Also you mention 'enough to push the cap'. Is cap something to do with dew points and moisture in the air?

Strike that....huge CG!!!!
Directly over head! Think she's getting charged up!

It's just heavy rain here! And urm, well that's about it! lol
