  1. Yeah. One guy at work got a call from his wife saying the snow was pretty bad in Coventry and her car was stuck. We were all laughing at work thinking she was joking because there's just a dusting outside. I'm hopeful that the stuff further south with give us a decent covering. Hope you're enjoying it smile.gif

lol its wasnt bad to start with but it got moderate from 5 pm onwards slowed down a bit now.but im still confused why ppl near us are not reporting the same kind of snowfall?unknw.gif

  2. Nope, this is nothing unusual for a COLD winter, it's just we haven't had one for such a long time that (I'm guessing you are sub 20 yrs old) most younger folk only remember the 1" falls that we had during the bad years of the Noughties.

yeh i cant remember it being so cold for so long..but whos complaining im enjoying every second of thisdrinks.gif

  3. We really can't be sure at this stage, I'm in the same place as you practically so i'm just as eager to know.

But as it stands atm we may be almost in the best place for snow, but as I said, it's a case of watching the radar and not being too dissapointed if it isn't as good as you want (or maybe, just maybe...beyond your wildest dreams!) cold.gif

wow hope this works out last weeks 'event' gave us nothing better then half hour of wet snow..but what you reckon the chances are for a good covering of snow?

  4. Tomorrow for here in Birmingham, I think 2-3" snowfalls wouldn't be too bad, any more than that and I'd count myself lucky. The snow shouldn't really affect this region until around mid-afternoon and last a few hours into early-mid evening. As is already known, the heaviest precip, and therefore the heaviest snowfall, will be towards the western side of the precip band, so basically where the Met Office have issued higher risk severe weather warnings (Eastern parts of Wales, Hereford and Shrophire) I would estimate snowfalls typically reaching 5-6" with high ground over Wales in particular perhaps reaching 8-10".

This event will be nothing special for here or really anything notable. Even if 4" of snow fell, that would be decent snowfall, nothing that hasn't been experienced before in this part of the country. That's my view on tomorrow anyway.

Further on in the week and the cold theme continues with a risk of further snow affecting the Midlands on Thursday and Friday.

i think same amount snowfall for coventry to as we are close to birmingham

  5. this is from a local weather station in coventry..i wldnt mind this one bitwhistling.gif

After a brief milder interlude, it looks as if the cold weatheris back this week, with the potential for copious amounts of snow in our region over the next two weeks or so, though this is most likely over the Warwickshire hills, with rain sleet and wet snow perhaps over lower lying parts and in towns and cities. It is certainly going to be an interesting spell of wintry weather, that's for sure!

On Monday, it will be dry and bright with sunny spells, though after a hard overnight frost, temperatures will only recover slowly.

In a moderate easterly breeze maximum temperatures may only rise to 2°C - well below average for the 28th of December in Coventry (6.7°C).

Under clear skies this evening, there will be an early ground frost as minima fall back to 0°C in the early hours of Tuesday; as cloud and rain edges in from the south towards dawn and meets this cold air, the rain will turn to sleet and wet snow snow into Tuesday, especially over the higher ground to the south and north of Coventry.

<P class=style5>The early rain and sleet will turn increasingly to snow during the day with highs of just 2°C or so, feeling cold in a brisk easterly breeze. Snow accumulations will be greatest over local hills of course, though there should be a covering almost everywhere by afternoon.

Outlook - further rain sleet and snow is likely at times; briefly milder on Wednesday then sub-zero by New Year's Day with the potential for a lot more snow.

  6. thats because TWO uses GFS data, so it would have the projections based on the 18z, which is getting a lot of criticism tonight. ps: the latest bbc forecast showed snow across the midlands on weds.

i see but im hoping tuesday event comes off wld get to see some serious snowfall which i havent seen to date is ma short life!rolleyes.gif
