  1. snow setting on roofs , cars and grass. . could be an interesting night , I thought we would have to wait until 9pm , ut the cold

pool of air seems to be pushing further west than predicted. looks good for all of us.

I think we could get 10 cm of snow by midday tomorrow, and it should stick for most of the week.

Could be an awkward drive to work tomorrow.

  2. it looks like we are perfectly positioned to get some reasonable snow from the west later today , then we get some snow from the east on saturday and sunday , this snow tends to be drier so will settle much more than the wet stuff we tend to get from the west. So we dont need the 10p sized flakes for there to be some further accumalations. Overall it is going to be a very interesting few days , ive just purchased the nw radar , as the raintoday free radar i feel was a bit misleading as to snow potential. it does look like we will remain in a cold spell for the next 6 to 8 days then a brief milder period , before maybe some more snow potential from a NE direction. Finally this could be another winter to remember

  3. i still believe we will get some significant snowfall tomorrow , i think the dividing line will be cambridgeshire. To the east of that the snow showers will fragment , but there is still a possibility of upto 2cm of snow for eastern areas, Its now a case of waking up early and checking the radar to see how quickly the front is moving through, We also must remember that there is plenty more snow forecast for the next 3 days. We could end up with 10 cm of snow in places. Waxing the runners on my trusty old sledge in anticipation of some weekend fun on the slopes.rofl.gif

  4. starting to turn back to reasonably heavy snow in northampton , there was a worrying 30 mins of very fine heavy sleety precipitation . it is still very wet snow unfortunately , o isnt really settling , if we had this in the evening we would have had a few inches of lying snow by now. still an interesting week to look forward to though.

  5. i live in semilong northampton , a 10 minute walk to the town centre , we have had very heavy wet snow , but it hasnt settled , the snow is turning more to sleet now. still heavy though. interesting you say the snow has settled less than a mile away from where i live.

  6. TEITS guessed it right yesterday , part skill , and lot of luck , what i cant workout is that even at 6pm today , nowcast the bbc and met still ignored

all the signals that were showing from the radars , and lots of people on this site started to question their westerly bias . Hopefully there will be a serious look at

how the bbc and met office seem obsessed with their model output when they are so obviously wrong , and then a re so reluctant to update when proved wrong.

  7. Just lost my satellite signal due to heavy snow just started again in northampton. What excuse do you think the beeb and met office forecasters have , for such a poor forecast , which even at 630pm nearlt nowcast , they refused to look at what the radar was saying . I truly believe that because they forecast this yesterday to hit west midlands they kept the westerly bias . Surely these important broadcast sites should update more regulary and start to use nowcast. Ime sure there will be many people caught out by this , who rely upon the bbc forecast.

  8. Not brilliant from any of the models this morning, especially not the GFS which spells disaster in terms of anything remotely exciting:

This high is going to prove nothing more than a pain in the derrier.

And this doesn't even have any ppn touching the east coast so I suppose that would spell dry for all.

I think I'd rather the Atlantic kicked in sooner rather than later instead of this boring high.

my company has just received a forecast for sleet / snow during this weekend , what forecast are you basing your comments of a dry spell for all.

It will remain dry today and tomorrow , then friday will be quite a stormy day before much colder air spreads across the uk during the weekend .

  9. According to BBC and SKY news weather reports the midlands are experiencing heavy rain..I have at least 4-5cm of snow and it has been snowing for hours!!..am I living in a parallel universe!! rolleyes.gif

Its much finer snow here now..but still coming down heavy and settling on top of the last lot!! wind is picking up too!!...

Have heard reports on local radio that your area has been hit the worse , seems to be very localised , some parts of

northampton have reports of no snow at all. Its amazing how just a few miles down the road how different the conditions can be.

Definately heavier and more snowier know.

  10. That is so bizarre..I am about 15 min drive from you to the east and its snowing heavy and trouble on road!!

The precipitation is getting harder here but still unfortunatley its still fine sleety snow , so no further accumulation , is it still

    snowing heavy in Rushden.

Local radio forecast possible 10 cm of snow througout mroning early afternoon , before it turns more to sleet and rain

    then possible frost tonight.

Then said temps will be upto 8c by wednesday with just heavy rain , i will be surprised if temps get above 4c myself.

I dont think weve seen the end of the snow this week.
