  1. 2.5c here now, with a noticeable thaw (yes, obviously at that kid of temp). Wind gusty though with a NW/WNW aspect which I don't understand at all. Meteox radar dropping ppn off the coast of Norfolk like t is hitting a wall. Time for bed, fingers crossed, just a light covering tonight will keep me watching tomorrow (he lies!! )
  2. I grew up in Cornwall. How would I ever have got to drive in snow? The first time I drove in deep snow I did fine (aged about 22 then) I was in a 17.5 tonner delivering to shops on Dartmoor. When I got back to base I learned everyone in the warehouse had left about 3 hours earlier and had got stuck in gridlocked traffic. Point is it his normaally pretty localised if and when you get stuck. It is no different in the Summer if there is an accident Back to weather, Francis on Sky has just suggested dusty snow only and has been pretty good so far this last few weeks IMO. Being an old git, I remember when he was written off as "eye-candy" on breakfast telly (when it was a new invention) 2c here now, cloud cover and a feeling in the air that it is dying to snow but just can't manage it Radar shows the ppn tracking West fizzling. Bit like Norwich at the moment...... snizzle, drizzle, fizzle As most nights recently, I am probably going to wake up with a top-up Cheer up all, a week ago we were discussing 10 ten dayss of cold, a mild interlude and then an even colder period to finish off January (Joe laminate flooris's report?), seems pretty much to be following the script to me
  3. Click on the Union Flag top left for English I have NW radar but am not convinced by it. Seems to fill in what you have seen after you see it! On the other hand meteox overcooks it so it is handy to watch both and then take the middle. If meteox was correct for this late afternoon/evening I would have had snow on and off for 9 hours now. There are other sites too Sometimes NW is right other times others are correct. I have 11 tabs open on my browser atm!
  4. TEITS. Is NAE found under a subscription site? I've seen it mentioned often and with excellent results according to feedback on NW
  5. Posted earlier that my parents are still here from Cornwall from three weeks ago! I actually live next door to Heathrow and spent most of my free time in Weymouth until I discovered Norfolk about 2 1/2 years ago! When I leave work on a Friday, workmates ask me where I am off to and my brain crashes! I sort of make my mind up after i've been driving for an hour or two and have reached the M25! Norfolk is the best though. I've spent over 20 years travelling for work and this region is the best for seasons. Most snow i've ever seen at 43 years old, my 10yo has seen more than I had in my mid-twenties having grown up in Cornwall
  6. I work for Anglian Water which makes it worse! Can get up to Grimsby then. When I got to Peterborough (their HO) everyone speaks in a mild Birmingham/E Midland accent especially around Thorpe Park (sorry TEITS).
  7. No-one wants to lose you from a thread, it is all about finding the right grouping. There is just too many finding NW now, word of mouth is really kicking in and media coverage of NW is picking up. We are talking about an incredible period of time, hence the needs for more threads. Although mostly a lurker for five or so years, I have seen enough to know even national threads can be very lonely at times Stay with us here for the best commentators (too shy to name names:whistling:) You might want to find where the posters i've seen recently from Hemel, Ealing and Luton are now posting for a better idea of what's happening Milton Keynes is another area of confusion, when I lived there I was never sure were to look. Wendy Hurrell used to do the ITV forecast a few minutes after I got home from work from Norwich! Cable TV also gave me Thames regional news and the coppers had Thames Valley uniforms, never worked out where I was!
  8. Norwich roads are not bad, they did a good job gritting today. Snow is mostly missing us at the moment on a track from the NE it goes North or South most times Driving to work this morning radio Norfolk had a very good grip on what was happening at the airport, although at that time of morning on a Saturday you won't get that level of info. Tell him to say hello to Terry when he gets there, my housemate Terry went out in July. Mind you, he's from Hartlepool so may not have got back out yet!
  9. Can Cornwall have a free pass to 3C&EA? My 70yo parents drove up on 23rd December (took them 16 hours after getting stuck in Devon). Too nervous to drive back yet! They planned to go back this weekend
  10. Increasing now, radar suggest about a 20 minute block and then more flowing through later
  11. Bigger flakes now but lighter and drifting now rather than coming straight down def more breeze and v dark
  12. Norwich just caught the top edge, according to radar, from lovely sunset to darkness in minutes. Heavy but smallish flakes for 10mins, now dark cloud cover
  13. Thanks for the update PS If the jetstream starts to push back North can this drive continental cold through the UK? Haven't paid much notice to JS in the past so not entirely sure how it all pulls together. Does it just funnel the atlantic lows?
  14. Short-lived shower in Norwich which managed to bury my last cigarette butt. Looking back at the radar, it popped up from nowhere after the air mass hit the coast, then shot through on a NE track. Following small clouds look like they are on a conveyor, more could pop up at any time I would think After lurking on winter model threads for 6(?) years since thundersnow in Salisbury, I've learnt more in three weeks than at any time thanks to the knowledge of the guys in this region
  15. Snowing heavy in Norwich someone has left a halogen light on 100m away pointing straight at me, better than any lampost. Sticking readily to the garden bench which I cleared at 6 oclock. Not on radar though
  16. BBC forecast for this region suggested plenty of showers to watch out for. 2c on the Norfolk coast though tomorrow. More generally, ice days through to Tuesday but 1c Monday. NE winds ave 20mph on Sunday If anything had it cloudier after Sunday through Tuesday, not clear about ppn though
  17. CambridgeshireEssex Norfolk Peterborough Southend-on-Sea Suffolk Thurrock
  18. Flash warning for heavy snow from 1500 East of England
  19. Just popped out for a smoke. Was going to comment on the orange sky but halfway through my ciggy it started to snow Would love to stay up but knackered. Going to bed now

  24. I saw clouds of them in Yarmouth and Sheringham on two separate occasions during summer. got covered with them walking around. Holiday makers couldn't believe their eyes. I learn't not to wear bright coloured t-shirts.
  25. Where do I find the NAE TEITS? It seems to be spot on. I had a hunt around earlier but with a USB stick everything slow to load up on any weather related site
