Quite wet, fine snow in Chapeltown/Potternewton but driving hard - but needs to pep up with some fatter flakes to really accumulate. Hopefully it will do from now on..
-
Now we have snow. Don't know how long it will last, though before returning to sleet.
-
I'm just up the road in ls7 and it's sleety as sleet can be - bah
You are not wrong - it seems that as soon as a few steady flakes appear, the intensity increases with more sleet. Pah!
Hopefully it will get better as it's coming down quite a bit.
-
What part of Leeds do you live in?
Snowing here with 3cm of fresh sow.
LS7 - Halfway between Chapeltown/Chapel Allerton. The elevation increases a bit as you go out of town up the A61 towards the ring road but I'm probably a bit low here. It is fairly steady sleet alternating with a few minutes of flakes.
More flakes than sleet now - hopefully this carries on. The Beeb insists that snow will affect this area as well as to the west of us. Perhaps we will get a bit more as the night wears on but perhaps you are in a better position being a few miles west of me and up the road a bit. You look to be quite close to the snow line looking at the radar.
-
Quite sleety in LS7, snow cover hanging on, just. I'm going to give it an hour to perk up.
-
Well as much as I resist it, I'm off to defrost the car. Plenty more showers to come, hopefully.
-
Some nice snowfall continuing in ls7
-
The radar is a little disapointing so far, so hopefully things will pick up later in the night.
You're bound to be in the firing line for one or two of the incoming showers - stand a better chance of us here catching 'em. Good luck!
-
Either the GFS or Meto is wrong, if i went by the GFS yes there will be some moderate snowfall in the South east, but the heaviest of PPN would be in the North of England, and as the PPN stalls for a considerable amount of time the highest snow depths are likley.
Ha! Ha! I read that last word as being Ilkley!
-
Still persisting with light flurries here. A longer spell than I anticipated today, that's for sure.
-
I watched them both mate, and they were very good with plenty of white blobs around
True, but McElwee on the national forecast placed the emphasis firmly on the South Eastern corner on Sunday
-
best its been all night, heavyish at times, (which i class as being able to see the snow without looking at a lamppost but it's all relative!)
Yes it's nice and blustery now; a fair bit coming down.

That snow certainly is iminant but It does look light...
Better than nowt - which is what we seem to have had since Tuesday!
-
Moderate - Heavy in LS7. Thought we might have missed the boat tonight but I'm getting happier by the minute!
Brisk wind is blowing it near horizontal up our street.
-
I'm certainly enjoying it mate, got over 14cm in my back garden now and its still coming down heavy with more too come.
Regarding the thaw, there's 2 break downs before actually warms up, looks like the breakdowns for the snow will miss Leeds.
Enjoy,
Lewis
Sorry could you clarify what you mean in that last statement?
Looks like the whole stretch of coast from Hull upto M'boro has been getting a pasting!
-
It looks as if the heavier PPN pivoted around Tadcaster to put Selby and Pontefract in the firing line. Leaving us with a thin band only. Even so, as Ezman says - there is still a fair amount of snowfall.
Now I'm bored - time for bed. Although it's started lightly again it's nothing to write home about. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
-
I think that in half an hour between 2330 and 0000 the band only moved a few miles over the M1/A1 junction at Hook Moor and to the north of that, to the West of Wetherby
-
Got the feeling tonights gonna be lost for me like last night. im like a menopausal woman.......DRY
Ooer! You might get a smidgin over there!
-
Now it's coming down in LS7 light to moderate at times.
-
the latest image for 2330 on Met Office Invent shows that it's advancing on us slowly - with what still appears to be light-moderate PPN currently around York.
Yes - tiny flakes now.
-
lol the latest radar is **** for us in Leeds.
It's thinning out a bit I must admit
-
ive pulled my blinds on for now, and watching a rerun of ireland v ENGLAND from italia 90 on espn classics to take my mind off the snow for a bit:wallbash:
Great - thanks for that! A bit of Lineker and Peter Shilton will take my mind off it, too. Was a great tournament! Ahhghh..it's just finished. LOL
-
Amazed how slowly the band is creeping in - anybody in York and suroundings know how heavy it is at the moment?

Yes! now it's good - roads getting a good covering, a few more hours of this and should be good!.
