Seem to be fizzling out a bit once they get past York. Bah! Hopefully some beefy one will push further in.
BTW - did everyone see this pic?
-
It seems to show possibilities for Leeds from around 9pm as well?
Well hopefully things will get better for us tonight - a repeat of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning's delivery will do me just fine. Just to top things up a bit.

What do people think that nice collection of snow that is moving southwards from scotland will do when it meets the showers coming in from the east? Is it likely to stay on course over me or pick up some motion to the South west?
Thanks
Have a look here from 1500 onwards with rainfall layer switched on.

Seems to indicate it's possible for you 0000-0300hrs.

Snowfall between 0000 and 0200hrs in LS7 was approximately 3/4 inch, taken from the top of the car - I had cleared the previous lot just before the snowfall started before a trip out. On my return there was also half an inch in place of the vacated, previously clear parking spot. so I would say an inch and a half in total between midnight to 3am. Hope these sums add up. If not, feel free to have a go!
BTW, another light shower here in Leeds right now so some of the showers are reaching us!
-
I can see snow in the distance to the east of Leeds but nothing over the centre.
Light shower to the NE of town right now.

Just had the time of my life on the Leeds Outer Ring Road to and from the airport. I would gess a further 3/4" fell between my outward journey and return 2am to 3.15am. Had the whole ring road to myself, virtually. With whiteout conditions through Horsforth to Adel. And it was an essential journey, too!

sorry didn't realise - yeah I'm in LS7 chapel allerton, north leeds, seems to be alternating between powdery snow and normal snow now!
-
Can confirm now snowing light-moderate here in Leeds - don't feel so bad now about missing out on the fun down in the South!
-
This is great - and still it comes down heavily
-
All flights suspended at Leeds Airport.
The mother in law is flying back there today hehe:lol:
-
Still nice and heavy here in NE Leeds close to city centre - for a time i thought we were fizzling out but it has been really intensifying for the past half an hour - hopefully those to the south of us will get a good dumping too.
-
Absolutely fantastic couple of hours what a big surprise after last night's events - a good 4 or 5 inches. And to think I was getting a bit miffed about losing out last weekend!
-
I doubt we'll get anymore snow tonight. Roll on the next batch of PPN
On that note, i'm off to :)
As long as it doesn't wash away that lovely carpet.
-
Hopefully the PPN brewing up over Stoke on Trent around now will come up this way and shed it's load.

Nowt falling here, thought the sky is still peachy coloured. (Used to be pinky-orange but since the demise of orange streetlights, it's changed lol)
Looks like daylight on my CCTV camera. I do love it when there's snow.
Nice covering on those motors - stopped here, too.
-
Still going lightly, lamp posting time. Gritter going past right now.

I've almost completely given up on beating the 1995 Leeds freeze event. Would've been nice for this event to have delivered more but it's early days yet and I have a renewed optimism for January, February and March.
All in all, this cold spell has proved to me that an old school winter is still possible. Also, for the first time ever in my life there looks to be a decent amount of snow remaining on the ground for Christmas Day.
Aye - Burn's Night 1995. Watching the 655 buses advance a grand total of 15 yards over 4 hours through Headingley. Not quite that, but a good top up before the big day.
-
Turning fine now in NE Leeds - any more coming up from the South overnight?
-
Leeds covers a very large area , Jed has had snow everyday since last Thursday whereas i havnt... a couple of inch last Thursday , then a fresh cover sunday and now just over an inch tonight .... i would say theres between 2-3 inch lying here at mo , but i was in yeadon today ( Leeds/Bradford Airport ) and there was about 4 inch in places there before tonight. Thats about 8 mile from where i live ... big variations within what is known as Leeds )
Evening all, everyone - new poster; have been following things here with interest past few days. Been quite disappointed past few days with the lack of heavy snowfall here in Leeds but we are getting a right pasting now :yahoo:I'm in North West Leeds and am loving every minute of it. Agree with the variation - I was also in Yeadon earlier today and it was a world away from here in the immediate suburbs.
Of course I should have said North East Leeds. That's Banana Bread Beer for you.

I get that impression, too - but hopefully it will hit us here, too. Looks promising on here http://www.metoffice...ent/weathermap/ at the moment!
