Nasty icy cold RAIN here, washing away some of the slush but not having much impact on the hard snow (yet) so we may still have some left in the morning. Still wondering why the council gritter was out earlier when within an hour it had rained and washed it all away, hopefully they have plenty in stock if they can afford to waste it and will not be saying it has all run out if we get more ice/snow in January !

It's all gone horrible here the lovely sunny and frosty morning has been replaced with a very merky foggy afternoon, not sure what to expect weather wise as I've just seen a gritting lorry go up the main part of our road (only the second time since Thursday night's snow) are they expecting something? If it's going to thaw why bother we've managed to get in and out all week, I'm in a little slip road of only half a dozen houses so we get no grit, hence nextdoors grocery delivery that just so nearly ended up at the other end of the road (haha I think Tescos need to send their drivers on an advanced driving course!)

It's so beautiful here this morning. Lying snow, hoar frost on the trees, sunshine just picking out the details through the lingering frozen mist - a real Christmas card scene.
Really lifts the spirits. Can't imagine why anyone would want it to warm up myself.
Same here up the road in MK, but there wasn't alot of Christmas cheer in the ASDA Wal Mart first thing this morning miserable people were all very bah humbug !

Still snowing here in MK, very small flakes but a good amount of them and no sign of a let up yet.
I do so hope it is still here in the morning so I can get out and about with my camera again. (I have put some of the pictures I took on Friday in the gallery, also some from February.)
Stay safe and enjoy it everyone

Still snowing moderately in the center of MK, got allmost 2cm of fresh snow ontop of the icy compacted stuff from the other day. Front seems have weakened alot on it's journey northwards, but it's more or less going to be stationary in the posistion until 5am before pulling off to the east. Hoping as the colder night time temps dig in it'll reinvigorate the snowfall.
No idea what the main grid roads are like but our untreated road looks very dangerous with a really good covering over the icy compacted snow from Friday.
Hopefully this will carry on for a few hours yet and we won't find it all gone by the morning,
feeling the need for a little festive cheer now, someoone pass the Port

Quite heavy snow for nearly an hour now in MK, my drive and car that were clear and wet are now completly covered.
-
About half an hour of sleet now but it seems to be turning into snow now, just worried it won't stick as everywhere is wet

Do you get plastic snow in Milton Keynes. Sorry.
Haha, very funny !
But I have just got home from Xscape, where we have REAL indoor snow all year in the SNOzone ;-)
It's stopped raining now and the temperature seems to be dropping fast as just been outside to put my (real) Chickens to bed and it is much colder than when I got home a while ago. Really must get my self a thermometer, perhaps Santa will get me one !

Hello fellow MKer
Hi there,
I'm on the East side (MK7)
Just go home and sad to say it's icy rain now :-(
With any luck it will turn back to snow later !

You should get sleet/snow.
Sleet here at 2.5c
Thanks, I hope it is more like snow than sleet ~ just noticed the odd tiny flake has just started to come down in the last couple of minutes !
I have to go out soon but will keep you all posted later on what we have had/are getting here :-)

Hello,
Has anyone got an idea what I might get in MK ?
I'm getting conflicting forecasts depending on who's you look at. At the moment there is quite heavy cloud cover, it has increased all morning as we started with blue sky and sunshine. No sure about temps etc but it still feels pretty chilly to me and the snow/ice we already have hasn't melted much.
Sorry I'm not very good on the technical stuff but very interested and hope to learn more on here !

BBC WEATHER (WEBSITE) says snow for Luton starting from 18:00pm, but looked outside and its clear.
Clear sky here in Milton Keynes at the moment, we only had a little bit more snow last night when other areas nearby seemed to have got alot more. ( It hasn't melted much today only on south facing roof etc. )
I'm very confused as to if we are getting any more, every forecast I have looked at says something completly different, it would be great if we had a white Christmas even if it is just hanging on to what we have got already, it's so pretty!
Hello BTW I'm a net.weather newby :-)
