  1. I'm talking about the winter so far and I really hope you're right that it it isn't over yet. The trouble is that by the middle of February the strength of the sun is such that any snow cover we get rarely lasts long, so that doesn't leave much longer for a 'severe winter' to occur.
  2. Why is it silly? I'm just saying exactly what's happened here, in this part of Herts, this winter. With the amount of hype going on in the media at the moment because of a bit of snow you'd have thought we've been in some sort of Siberian deep freeze for the last 4 weeks! It's only because of the wash out winters we've had in recent years that people get surprised when we get a bit of snow and tend to overreact. I'm just being realistic and saying that around here it hasn't been severe at all. Current temp 2.1C and rising fast!
  3. A bit of a heatwave here this morning. Temps already up to 1.8C and all our lovely snow is melting and most of the icicles have fallen off our roof. So much for this so called severe winter, we had one fall of snow in December which lasted a few days and then melted and one fall last Tues/Weds which has lasted just a few days and is now melting!
  4. I've just seen the latest BBC forecast and my interpretation is that we won't now get any significant snow until Monday at the earliest, yet this morning they were saying widespread snow for the whole region tonight and tomorrow. This is so disappointing as I and probably many of us were really looking forward to another covering tonight. Why are people on here still talking up the chances of us getting some decent snow tonight and tomorrow when there doesn't seem to be any realistic chance of it happening? Or coulld there be a chance the latest BBC forecast could still be wrong and we will get some afterall?
  5. I hope so, the snow's only been gone a couple of days here and I'm missing it already!
  6. Hi. I've been lurking for a while but finally decided to register yesterday. It's been a great few days but unfortunately looks to be coming to an end. We had a bit more wet snow last night where I live near St Albans but the temp stayed up just above freezing for most of the night so there has been a constant slow drip .drip, drip of melting snow going on all night. I always feel a bit depressed when we come top the end of an icy or snowy spell! But, already looking forward to the next one and hopefully not too long to wait.
