I am bouncing off the ceiling, we have had upgrade after upgrade over the last 3 days
Sledges selling out fast thou.
Enjoy the Snow
And downgrade after downgrade up in the north for here, dereks forecast then was appauling up here, nothing even turned up until after midday and quickly cleared, its always the same
-
Its looking similar to here, snow, settling but not a lot of it.. the mountains of Wales may take a fair bit of the energy out of it for both of us, but we should get some.
typical the chances of getting large amounts are so rare for here and even then we miss out haha
-
Hows it looking for North Wales atm? Or is it likely to affect mid and south wales much more?
-
I'm on my phone so can't quote you RainyNWales, not sticking on gritted roads but everywhere else yes, I'll keep you informed of how it is
ok thanks
-
There is moderate snow here in llanrwst, setting too. Was even snowing in Llandudno by the sea.
Settling on the roads in llanrwst? gotta be there at 8 tomorrow haha, hoping for friday its bad enough that i cant make it
-
Cant believe it, i said i wouldnt get sucked in and disappointed when the downgrades start but the great GFS runs for days for wales had me believing. Then now we're getting closer its started, went from looking great to marginal in one run (for the North coast anyway), just hope it isnt so progressive in the next run and comes more in to line like previous runs but cant see it looking at the other models. The places that seem to always get the snow will be lapping it all up again
-
So is that North Wales screwed aswell? From the little i understand if the GFS is right we are in for some fun in the North
-
Would be nice to have a full day of none stop snow, dont think iv seen this happen before, could this be the outcome this friday I HOPE SO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same here, never seen it snow constantly for a long time around these parts, maybe this is the event we have been waiting years for
-
Yeah it would be nice if this came off, could do with a long weekend haha. Hopefully by 8am i cant get out the house but i will believe it when i see with the record for the North Wales coast
-
How close is this.....
Either way the Pennines will get buried
Since i live on the North Wales coast is there any reason why it has snow in the middle with rain all away round it or is it just not very accurate? We normally get rain anyway haha
-
Being on the far west coast and low down in Aber, I hope I don't completely miss out this coming week!!
Yeah same here on the North Wales coast (Colwyn Bay) but more often than not we do miss out. Now i have learnt to just expect rain and its a nice surprise if we get the white stuff
-
Is it meant to get cooler later? Or has that amber warning built false hope of this rain turning to snow later?
-
Been raining off and on all morning around the North Wales coast and was even rain when i was around Betws y Coed/Capel Curig this morning delivering. Temp has been rising too so i dont see how the Met Office now has us in the Amber warning, is this rain meant to turn to snow at some point? Cant see it myself up here.
-
So is North Wales looking good for some decent snowfalls next week then? Always seems to be Mid or South East Wales that gets the snow
-
lol everytime in north wales aye mate always miss out lol should get some early hours so fingers crossed lol
Yeah heres hoping
And Bull im tempted, will go dust off the cross country skis
-
oh snowing in gwynedd area now but ground wet not sticking!! you got any yet??
We have a flake about every minute atm haha, so technically yes its snowing but i dont think theres a chance of being snowed in with that
-
where in north wales are you??? snowing here in north wales now
The Colwyn Bay area
-
This has/is been an amazing snow storm - glad you've all got the snow you've been wishing for - seems this "even larger teapot" will set the tone for winters to come possibly - and we'll ban the mild winter to the global warming cupboard and lock it up!!!!!!!!
Unless your in North Wales where we get the tail end of everything, theres sod all left by the time it gets here, doesnt matter whether its from the south west or east, its run dry and always light. Bar the really low temps, snow wise its service as usual for the north
-
Temps around 2-4c on the coast, 0-1c inland. Heavy Precipitation always lowers temps in situations like this.
This is why Evaporational cooling, with the amount of energy requires to thaw upper level snow, lowers the temp, which then means upper level snow falls to the ground as snow.
My guess at the moment is (I have been wrong before, some say I've never right )
Heavy Snow for Mid Wales, Moderate Snow for the Valleys of South Wales, a wintry mix for coastal areas in the south, with some snow for coastal areas with altitude.
Further thoughts from Ian Fergusson
Does North Wales not count in your guesses

I know things can change but as it stands its not looking good for north wales?

I dont believe it, snow has disappeared totally on the met office forecast for here now, just says overcast. I really hope they have that wrong, only we could be under an amber warning and have no snow at all. Somebody has reactivated the snow shield
