  1. Had about 2-3" here in Weston which is not bad. Got to try and get to work in Nailsea, boss said we have got to try.

Anyone in Nailsea area can tell me how it is there?

Well i live in clevedon, id say from what i can see its pretty bad, maybe 5-7 inches. all bus services have stopped so i cant get to work, but for those who are driving id say be very careful, avoid if possible, all though i havent actually seen the state the roads are in.

  2. Touch & go again for us in the south west it's never straight forward though is it.

Some will do well out of this front on Tuesday, but I feel Weston being near the coast will be marginal?

I Wouldnt Be so Sure, you dont really have to go that far inland for it to turn from sleet to snow and start to accumulate. i have hope for you down in weston, i think you may get snow.

  3. looking like tuesday will be another marginal event for here us in the Bristol area :yahoo: - lampost and window watching any1? :yahoo:

I Have a good feeling for our neck of the woods, i think it could fall as snow, giving us a covering. the update shows the so called "warm sector" out further west over Ireland and the chance of the front stalling, its just where and if at all it does stall raises the question. but like i say i have no doubt we will get some snow from this! we will just have to wait and see (Y)

  4. Any else noticed that band of rain over the southwest, turning very heavy. ahhhh if only it would travel north, dump a load of snow, the fall back south in the the Atlantic!

This really is quite a remarkable cold spell were going through, i dont think iv seen anything quite like it, okay so we dont have massive amounts of snow, and the temps arnt remarkably low YET (its actually what we should get for winter) but i think its the prolongness of it that makes it note worthy, and its certainly with us for a week or more to come yet. i think this spell is defiantly one for the record books, the Bristol harbour has frozen several times already this winter, iv only ever seen that once, and that was in the cold of Feb 09. This is certainly setting up for what could be an excellent winter!

  5. Can I just butt in on the bit of off topic we have going on please?

What about the arguments that the world is coming out of an ice age and this is natural progression and not caused by Co2/emissions/pollution etc?

I am definitely interested in this and not just flame throwing. :)

I Must Say i dont really believe in all this global warming stuff, i think its just a huge money maker with all these taxes and things to buy to become "GREEN". Its a joke, the is on a cycle, it has dramaticly warmed and cooled many times before, it just happens to be going through a warm period again. I also dont think its will be long before we start to see temps level out, and in years to come, they will fall again, and then they will try and make money on the "incoming ice age" taxes. As you can tell im a strong believer in that the earth, just like many things are on a cycle.

  6. Were in a very complex set up, and i think forecasting snow beyond a day or 2 is almost impossible, as ever with cold spells in this region, a few surprises may pop up. And it most certainly is impossible to tell what feb is going to like when we dont really no what its going to be like a few days down the road. I do believe though that it will be cold for some time yet, and we will get some more snow fall.

  7. yes sooner the better that front starts moving back south  then we get colder air i guess.

Absolutely! I Wasn't the Front to move so far north, was expecting it to stall over us, when it did move over us though, we did have a heavy period of sleet, turning to snow for about 5-10 mins, then back to sleet and eventually rain. Maybe snow is on the cards end of the week and next  we can only hope :)

  8. I Think as soon as we get this stalled front moving south again, then the games begin, Cold north east winds hopefully brining snow showers to our area and maybe more general snow later in the week from a front moving along the south coat, just hope it doesn't go too far north and leave us where we are now! But certainly looks an interesting week or 2
