  1. I tend to agree Archie. Im relatively new on this site so perhaps I shouldnt say to much but Im a regular visitor to other weather sites and there does seem to be a disproportianate level of ramping here in the last few days. While I can understand the general level of excitement over the model runs to an extent, some folk seem to have lost sight a little of the fact they are just that....model runs.

The boundaries seem to keep being pushed back. granted some parts of the country are seeing wintry weather, ( its winter after all ) and theres no doubting its a bit chilly here in the South East, but nothing to confirm some of the Armageddon type posts Ive been reading in the last week or so. Often when someone has tried to question it they've been told 'its on its way' ..... '3-4 days from now' .......... everything is in place......or might be in a few days time, and so it goes on.

I mean no disrespect to anyone here but some of us are trying to learn by reading the posts, watching the models and radars and all the other information available, and form our own opinions. Im looking for level headed assessments to help me with that. From now on Im just going to ignore anything that even whiffs of ramping. I hope that doesnt sound too harsh.

For the record it just about reached 0c here overnight, is now 2.5c and rising under clear blue skies. A nice winters day but far from Armageddon or total shutdown.

i totally agree with you apart from tues night its dry right up to the weekend..if this going to be be a "major event" the met office will be doing more about warning people

  2. had radio norfolk on this morning as people have been ringing up the saying how the sundays papers are saying could be a foot of snow on the eastern side of the uk with temps down to -20. so they got some guy from weather quest based at the uea,and he said "yes it will be about -20 on the highlands of scotland, but for us it will be cold with temps being around 1 to 4c all week night time temps could be as low as -7 in the fenland area. But as for snow apart from a prolonged spell on tues night the rest of the week looks dry and cold with most of the heavy snow to the north of england and scotland...then he said it is possible that milder air will push in from the south west next sunday...So help what charts are they looking at?

  3. The met office are always frightend to put their money where their mouth is: And have you noticed, schools closed, major roads closed, people cant get to work, trains not running . yet the reporters/t.v. crews are allways there..

yeah i agree..tv crews always make it how does that work...always make me laugh that 1000s of schools can close because teachers cant get into work, but i have too otherwise i dont get paid
