  1. I think mendips is gonna be a brief snow turning to rain event as no real mention of high ground on forecasts but why would you want to camp up here this time of year!? Where abouts are you camping?

A friend has some land in the woods not to far away from cranmore tower, the February camp is a bit of tradition, and, as one of our group is emigrating, its going to be his last one for a long while.

I'm dreading an ice rain event the most, not at all happy about the rain either. Its always good fun to camp in the snow (honestly, with right clothes, its great.....not convincing anyone am I? LOL )

  2. Evening all, I've been enjoying this years ups and downs of the winter roller coaster that is the "south-west thread" lol

While you are all street lamp watching on sat, with a nice warm brew or nicer cold one, spare a though for me as I will be in the back of beyond on the mendips, with my friends, having our February camping session.

I'm really hoping for a snow event as cold rain will be a nightmare, ice rain even worse!!

  3. Morning rockhopper.

Well, WeatherBug (on my BlackBerry) said it was -10 about an hour ago (not sure how accurate that is though) and someone else just down the road said it got to -10 too (but not sure where they got their info from). That's for the Paxcroft Mead area.

Solid ice on the roads around here. Doesn't look like many people are venturing out to work!

Morning, I'm not surprised it got colder at paxcroft. :acute:

  4. Cheers rockhopper.

At 01:30 this morning, I was wondering whether we were actually going to get any snow at all! Had a look out the window at 05:30 and there was a slight covering, so was really surprised at the amount we had when I got up at 07:00!! It must've hammered it down! :wallbash:

Here's hoping that the South West can get another pasting on Sunday (although that's a long way off - in snow-forecasting terms!).

It really started to get heavy at about 3am, we had an inch in 30 mins! and was still going when I crawled to bed.

Yeah, I saw the advisories about sunday into monday, could be another good amount! :wallbash:

  5. Hi everyone.

Have been following this thread for a while now (since about Part 3 (I think!)).

It was great to wake up to about 10-12cms of snow this morning, as Trowbridge has been in the "No-snow Zone" all winter so far!

Long may this cold, snowy spell continue!!!

It was snowing here about 20 minutes ago, but has stopped again now.

Thought we were in for a bit more around now (looking at the NW Radar), but it looks like it's slipping just South of here... Typical!

Attached (hopefully!) are a few pictures of Trowbridge in the snow.

Nice pictures Schmac, the only time our town looks pretty is when its covered in snow! lol
