Been out today with the family up the likey hills just west of brum to those who do'nt know,
well what a lovely day and still snow up there in the shaded areas mind you, not really looking forward to the grey and the cold now after the sunny day that we had today
nice while it lasted
-
Not to bad here today patchy cloud and a bit of a breeze temp around 8c
its just been nice to see the sun
-
Yesterday i posted that this time of year the chance of deep deep cold is less more likley
so when it comes to snow take it when you can because some were having a dig that unless
they were getting a few cm's and cold they wer'nt interested,
well looking at the 12z ecm + ukmo this evening for next week i take it all back hope it comes off.
-
And black tarmac roads and grey pavements! not settled here at all.We all know todays snow is transitional, however the next 3 hours, will with any luck paint the region a lovely white colour!
-
You give us all hopeProper moderate snow now -- flakes aren't huge, but not tiny either. Feels quite wet, so I suspect it's marginal, but it is settling quite readily now, even on the wet roads.
-
Loads coming down flakes just to small for it to start settling
few hours of it though looking at the radar
just nice to watch.
-
True rained most of the day sunday then turn to snow with in half an hour everywhere was white but only when it got heavyDamp/wet ground has very little impact on settling snow- it's a common misconception. Many other variables are far more important.
-
just started to kick in again nothin major yet winds picking up though good sign i think
temps + dps ok its just if the heavier stuff dont come soon with this light pep the
ground is going to be to damp for it to settle.
-
Well the first ones gone through just waiting now for the main band
ill think i will put the kettle on.
-
That first band on the radar an't doing nothing for no one i think its the second band looks the one for me
-
proper northenersLol Supacell I actually went to get a piece of glass for the front of my log burner that my dad insisted on putting in for me more trouble than it's worth in my opinion anyway being a dizzy blonde I smashed the glass don't ask me how I have no idea : /
We had about the same as Wirksworth I drove to brailsford and it was really deep up there and the fritters hadn't been near the place
We did really well when it comes it tends tp come hard here we had a fair whack I drive a range rover and I didn't move it for a few days you can put it in snow mode but it's bloody useless .
Buxton is crazy in winter but the men up there walk around in t shirts :-o couldn't believe it lol

Guys and girls this time of year we start to run out of deep deep cold so we have to take what we can get when regards to the white stuffnone whatsoever. Also you said would you not like a dramatic breakdown? The MetO are going for 2-4cm not very dramatic is it?
snow to rain - rain to snow - big flakes - small flakes JUST KEEP FALLING OUT OF THAT SKY and ill be happy
-
Yes south midlands is a bit patchy this time yesterday most of the midlands was like that wait for the 18z before you make your mind up.Well the latest forecast from the BBC, looked absolute tosh for this part of the Mids. No interest from me I'm afraid.
-
Maybe 3 to 5 hrs of moderate snow tomorrow and signs of winter not finishing with us yet !
had to laugh with the word SUMMER was mentioned
-
Yes the 18z nails it home for me you are right about the uppers are slightly a bit to high
lets hope the precipitation is better ! bring on the 18z.
-
Yesterday evening i quoted that D-P and temps are pretty good for tomorrow and snow maybe lightGfs looking snowier. Mainly because precip looks much heavier so far anyway
you were going for more rain and only if its colder + snower that things may change! showing today what do you think now for tom.
-
Looks just like the nae hope it comes offNMM 06z looks pretty good for tommorow. A more southern extent would be nice, bringing the heavier stuff further into the midlands.
just got to say that some don't seem to like the nae but back in jan when we had that snow event that started thursday and went on to drop around a foot of snow on most of us
nae got the snow that started thursday bang on that most of the other models never even seen it coming on the thursday that is and there after got bang on the money every day after that
but everybody to there own i surpose
-
Nae shows dew points at the neg side of 0 from 12z to 18z and temps not bad either i think will have a few hours
maybe light but you never know
-
nae 18z+48 is out looks pretty alright to me
-
that cov blob your calling it is hitting solihull at the moment and moderate it isLooks like the Cov Blob is back in town.Lol..heading towards Worcester by the looks of things!!
bit wierd though radar dont show the intensity
-
Been quite light here on and off but just started to pep up now
lets hope it keeps going.
-
yes weds maybe short lived and they do say that most of the snow will be up north
but like yesterday they said most of the snow would be in the east
and look what happened so you never know?
-
This time yesterday my thoughts you would get pasted and the west midlands would get sleet wet snow at the bestVery poor again in Nottingham this weekend, rained basically all day yesterday until finally turning wintry around 9pm, very light covering this morning but virtually all gone now. Another disappointment given the potential for heavy snowfall for us in the East Midlands as close to the event as saturday. Just didn't happen for Nottingham at least
just shows how hard it is to forecast snow fingers crossed for weds
-
just seconding what bish just posted nothing on the radar 15 mins ago!
then quite mod 2 hvy snow wow
