South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion 12th April 2013 13:00hrs>
Steve C replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
I'm not so confident of no t&l today here now. The sky looks very dark to my west... I looked at the CAPE charts earlier and noted the diminishing risk as the afternoon progressed, which is why I felt there'd be nothing much here, by the time the unstable zone arrived.- 784 replies

I see there's a line of heavy showers near Andover, moving eastwards, which have recently turned thundery. A few sferics this afternoon for a lucky few?- 784 replies

Morning all The same fresh, breezy weather here, as others are experiencing. Bin bags had been blown into the road at home. Much preferable to me than the heating bills inflating weather we had until last week. I like cold weather in winter, don't get me wrong, but it did drag this year.- 784 replies

Morning all, on this very quiet forum. Cloudy here still, but I'm expecting a warm and hazy afternoon. I was expecting Coast to have posted about NYC and uploaded pictures by now. Maybe a hot air balloon trip was part of his itinerary? - across the Atlantic.- 784 replies

Yep, the cloud is stubborn here too. It has the feeling of brightening up, just as the Sun sets... Anyway, the weekend is looking good for sunshine in the SE, although the nights will be chilly. Very nice April weather imho. - good walking weather.- 784 replies

Well done, the BBC, on Countryfile just now, for showing a Gainsborough picture of the Suffolk countryside, which actually showed St Mary's Church in Great Henny, Essex. I guess the BBC just associates Essex with the vacuous people from TOWIE etc. Great journalism Ellie Harrison! Dreadful forecast from Louise Lear too. She made the upcoming week sound very poor, weatherwise, when actually we'll get a lot of usable weather in our region in reality.- 784 replies

Just back home, from a weekend away. I've got to say the weather is just superb here at the moment. Birds are singing, like a constant dawn chorus. Trees are suddenly alive with blossom.. How people are wanting snowflakes later than now is bizarre to me. Horses for courses, I suppose, but as a nature lover, as much as a weather lover, late cold is just not wanted here.- 784 replies

I'm seeing quotes showing time advancing by an hour (e.g. Paul posts at 20:15, Gavin quotes him and the quoted comment shows as 21:15)

Dreadful place to go for a pub crawl imho. I know that familiarity breeds contempt, or so they say, but for an unbiased opinion, look at the Good Pub Guide and see how few pubs feature. For a town its size it's lamentable. It should be a good place to visit, with all its history, but it just isn't. Plenty of good options close by though.- 784 replies

A zone of heavy showers is just passing here. Nothing more though at the moment. -

We're having sunny intervals here, so hopefully they'll provide the trigger for some big showers -

Morning all Who's going to be the first to report thunder today then? CAPE & LI chart for 3 o'clock this afternoon, from the 0Z NMM model... -

From the Hi Res Model here. I wouldn't be surprised if some of us saw and heard something tomorrow. 6:00, 12:00 and 18:00 CAPE and lifted index charts... -

Yes it sounds like there might be a few issues, after the upgrade this morning. Quite a dross day here so far (cloudy and slightly drizzly) Hopefully it'll have brightened by tea time. -

Looking at GFS and ECM, I still think it'll be alright. I'm not saying totally dry, but the temperatures should be reasonable and you should get enough 'usable' weather for outdoor trips to be worthwhile. It'll also be much more outdoor friendly than recently (unless you've been walking briskly or running etc.) When is your trip - Monday to Friday? -

Hopefully by next week, the weather will help focus our minds on the next Regional get together. -

Morning all. Quite grey here too. I was just looking at JP's charts above and thought that they were pretty okay, but not too special (the ones he said 'would be nice') as they showed a potential late frost and then realised they've updated since he posted, so are from a later run! -

Well the light rain has stopped here now and 'bright' now describes it again. How long are you in New York, Coast? A four day trip, or a proper holiday? -

Bright, rather than hazy sunshine here. I'm expecting a bit of rain later though, but hoping for some good weather at the weekend. GFS 0Z is showing 19C in north London and 20C in the northwest of our region on Sunday afternoon, so 21C is plausible (in answer to archiesmummy)
