  1. Greetings from East Sussex. Lots of snow yesterday, but just tiny (but persistent) amounts today. About 110m ASL elevation in Staplecross so not suffering much melting as yet, still got the 7-8", most of which came from yesterday's Kent streamer. Snowballs come up a bit damp, and footprints turn to slush at lower elevations. The boy highly disappointed that he may have to go back to school tomorrow.

  2. don't think the weekend will be anything like that - that was SEVERE! incredible drifting, the snow didn't fully melt until well into March!

Remember it well. Asdaville had hardly any snow at all, but Dengie got it hard. Got snowed in (most unfortunately) at the White Horse on the Dengie Straight during the course of it. Not sure if it was snowing when we left . Too few hills for tobogganing..had to move to Sussex!

Latest NW piccie (It said that I can't post them to any OTHER forums...if the mod wants to say I shouldn't then I won't any more PS sorry). I do recommend the NW service. The missus works in the local shop and was able to tell people what was going to be happening for the next couple of hours as a result. Pint of lager price for a month.

  3. How can that be? we've had nothing! - must me very localised and be over in a blink of an eye.

From the rainttoday map the Dengie peninsular only clipped the very northern edge of the lump. Don't worry too much. If 1987 was anything to go by, when I lived in Tillingham, we were snowed in for a week, with drifts half way up the door and blocking the road to Southminster entirely where it drifted off the fields.

  4. Lovely looking lump coming into NE Kent heading towards E Sussex. Splendid. Been snowing here for the last hour or so. Another 3cm according to the boy who claims to have found one part of the garden that he hasn't yet made a snowman from.

I signed up for a month of the NW radar today....has anybody else found that even despite the 10-15 minute delay on getting the latest update, the actual snowfall takes another 10 minutes or so to arrive? I suppose snow takes a while to fall :good:

  5. Ah yes. Here we go. Strong leading front as the snow started while the sun was still shining brightly. Coming down at quite a rate now, bigger flakes than we've seen over the last couple of days and adding nicely to the 10cm or so we currently have. The boy is quite pleased, understandably, with no school for two days and huge opportunities for sledging and snowballs.

  6. Have just registered - thanks to all the knowledgeable posters on here. Some of you seem to have a better handle on things than the official forecasters

East Sussex / SW Kent border (near Bodiam Castle) not faring too badly. We had about 4cm overnight (mostly later in the session, and on top of some days-old crunchy stuff) and have had steady but mainly light snow all day - now got about 7cm. Snowfall seems to be thickening up somewhat currently. Took the dogs out in the woods this morning and was surprised to see that the 'permafrost' which had set in after several days of sub-zero temps had melted somewhat. Took some piccies and will post them when I've found out how!
