pasting it certainlyy has, when i cam up over there earlier at about 3 it had just started,as you do i stopped for a little and watched and when i pulled off at about 3.45 it was blowing a blizzard and a couple of inches deep!!! earlier in the day 2 snow ploughs were sat in car park at the top and were just pulling out onto the main drag when i left, obviously all that sleep they had didnt refresh them enough to be able to clear it all quick enough lol

bbc reported 18 inches of snow at the top of haldon!!!! 45cm WTF!!!!! oh so close 10 minutes from here........
-
rain and sleet nearly all day here, drove just outside of exeter into blizzards and a good 5 inch covering of snow, most frustrating thing being this is only 10 miles away and not massively higher than where i am!!!!!!!!! seems every route out of exeter has snow to some extent!
-
but we arent due it for a while yet, so if they were to both drop a bit more this would be really good?
-
the temp here has dropped too 2c and the dew point down to -1, these have both steadily dropped since the early hours, this is a goo sign i know but what is the maximum of each before any snow chance dissapears?
-
bbc weather shows less snow for us now, and more rain??????
-
so i geuss the general idea for tommorow is coming down to a nowcast situation, i just hope whatever comes comes after 2.00 as i have too make a work visit to tavistock tommorow from exeter and then back again!!! do i pack my shovel, or my umbrella lol
-
i cant make out the figure that relates to the marker around exeter area? anyone got better eysight then me?
-
well the netweather forecast gives me lots and lots of rain for tommorow, whether itll turn too snow or not is a different matter. i remember back last february when it was like this and they were forecasting rain before it snowed, was actually quite funny because we were watching ITV news when bulletins came up about people being stuck on haldon hill with heavy snow and straight after the bulletin the weather came on and put a real emphasis on heavy rain lol

Out towards Widecombe, they gritted up to a certain point and then stopped... so not sure how passable the road further onto the moor is. Could try heading up to Postbridge, the road from Exeter to Moreton is probably clear and then pot luck once you get up higher. I know Princetown is pretty much cut off.
ah cool, sounds like i might need a bit of luck then....... still time to mull over the decision with a cider in my hand lol
-
Bring a 4*4 then! The roads are pretty tricky.
time to borrow the old l200 at work then lol, where on dartmoor are you?
-
Right you lot, stop getting excited about a light snow flurry and look at the gfs update coming out now...
Precipation upgrade for Saturday night - we are getting into the timeframe when the gfs can start to look at convection a little more (but still programmes it to light - i.e tonights snow flurries drifting very far inland, due to them being very strong/heavy when they initally came inland, these were only down as initally light on gfs)
light to moderate @ 3am sunday
Hanging around - midday sunday
remains light until close of play
Throughout the day however, there will be convective heavier showers coming in primarily on coastal areas.
somethings brewing for monday over Devon and Dorset - that could be an interesting little cell to watch i feel.
its still looking promising for us then!

Nothing wrong with the Heath, besides its nice up there this time of year.
no, its not too bad,, been here for 23 years now lol. yeh it was nice wednesday walking around all the fields we got up here on the hills!
-
That looks to be heading this way!
Would be nice, not that we have had any thaw here to notice, to have the foot prints and car tracks filled in
managed to find ourselfs a shop that hasnt sold out of sledges today so hopefully will be up on the moors this weekend, nice to hear nothing has thawed!!!!

-

hi all, been watching the forums since dec and finally decided to join up, also signed upto the netweather extra last week thats quite interesting although slightly adictive!!!! im one of those people who just love unusual events of any kind so i suppose my interest was bumped up over the last few weeks. i hope to build a good understanding of how things work so will be staying around, not here for just the snow events, so wont pester you all to see if its going to snow in exeter lol! any chance??? only kidding!

looking on the NW radar there seems to be a nice band of showers heading down towards devon and cornwall, maybe if the temps drop off this will turn too snow?
