Just like a hurricane the closer you are to the eye-wall or in this case the equivalent of it for a storm depression the stronger the winds will be, I'd say judging by the charts from yesterday that the strongest gusts would be around breakfast time tomorrow around the King's Lynn area as the low centre passes out into the north sea via The Wash, but the latest charts suggest the centre has shifted south a fair bit so who knows (hopefully London and home counties would avoid the worst because of the high population) I do fear for people a little on the East Anglian coast to be honest, somewhere like Lowestoft etc... could get interesting tomorrow morning as the low pulls away into the north-sea I can see there being a sting in it's tail.
Thanks

Sorry if this is a silly question but are winds stronger nearer the eye of the storm or further away from it? I'm in Norwich so as the storm leaves the UK just north of Norfolk I was just wondering if that is when the strongest winds will be.

Getting used to disappointment from met office weather forecasts - i've yet to see a weather warning actually happen as forecast. Think i'll just give up watching the weather and assume each day that nothing is going to happen in Norwich. And before anyone says it's on it way, it will split down the middle as it always does and allow Norwich to pass straight through unharmed.

why bulgy bit in Norfolk been left out? I was so looking forward to doubling my July rainfall total of 0.3mm
Because nothing happens in Norwich (or it's surrounding area)!!!

The rain has finally reached Norwich, any chance of some lightning tonight???
-
Hopefully we will get some larger flakes in Norwich, 5hrs of small snow, about 3cm
-
There seems to be a line of death from just north of cambridge to south of Norwich and into the north sea where any heavy stuff turns to light when it passes over it. Anyone know why?
-
Light in north Norwich for about 50mins, about 0.1cm so far
-
Bbc still going for 2 to 4cm!
-
Radar says snow now but nothing falling
-
Snow in north Norwich now
-
Need the blob in Norwich to cover the ice on the paths!
-
Should be gusting 43 in Norwich this afternoon according to met office but we've had little more than a light breeze
-
Norwich Currently 14.1c 64% 1010.4 dry

It's right over us now according to the radar but.......nothing.
I'm guessing Norwich will miss best stuff - it always does
Hoping to be proved wrong but won't be holding my breath!

Radar seems to be stuck at 12.10

John Hammond has just said the "forecast is going as planed" so hopefully we will still see the 5-10cm
-
Been snowing in norwich for an hour now and we have just about managed to get to 1mm - another nine hours and we might just manage the big 1cm.
the green stuff seems to be having trouble getting past the wash

The City is a big place, used to live there and still work there. There was a decent fall in Norwich for starters at the end of November 2008.
It's not been anything like the 6-12" other parts of county has seen in the last couple of winters. I just think it's time us in Norfolk saw some deeper snow. Anyway I'm not going to argue with you, if you are happy with what we've had over the last few years then I'm happy for you but I would like to see a bit more. The snow has started to fall (very light) here now so fingers crossed we will get more than we usually do this time round.
-
What are you talking about, how can you say you're going to miss it when it's still forecast to be falling beyond 6am tomorrow?
And Norwich didn't miss the snow last year or the year before, in fact has done fairly well since 2007.
Maybe South Norfolk does well but the city only ever gets a few cm's each winter
-
Like you say, Nothing Happens in Norwich. Ha! Nothing happens in Gorleston either. Nada.
Maybe we will get 1cm if we are lucky, I think Norwich has managed to miss every weather event for last 20 years.

I think i should get a refund on the NW Radar - been under pink for an hour but not a flake a fallen
-
As an estimate, take mm of rain and times by 7.
Thanks Weather Boy

So according to the NAE it will start snowing in Peterborough around 7-8pm and at 6am on Sunday its still snowing!
Precip are pretty even across the snow area with Lincs having the highest total of 16mm.
How does that translate into cm's of snow?

If MetO were to issue red warnings would they do it before everyone goes to bed? not much use to anyone if people are sleeping.
