  1. Penicuikblizzard Yes there was a short but sharp graupel shower in St Andrews around Midday. 7c/2c currently.
  2. A decent day, especially by the poor standards of this month. Sunny spells and pleasant enough in the sun. Minimum was 0c, max 12c.
  3. -0.1c the low so an air frost. Drier than of late but still cool and uninspiring. Garden at the new house very slow to get going in terms of growth.
  4. Very pleasant both in St Andrews and back home in Glenrothes today. 17c the max. Air felt soft and warm. However rain on again this evening.
  5. Ravelin Certainly is a novelty. But I'm expecting a lot from next winter in my new home I'm only at 70m asl - I've seen some photos from friends at 250m in Fife and they have several cms.
  6. A wee surprise at the new house this morning. More snow than I saw in Pittenweem for the last 3 years. 1c.
  7. Utterly miserable few days since I posted those photos on Sunday. Cold wet and grey. Unsurprisingly some flooded roads on the drive home. Temperature 5.3c.
  8. Quinach That battle between haar and sun is not something I’ll miss in my new locale (albeit we will still see easterly murk, just not as much!). Sunny spells and up 13c here today, great for taking the dog up to the Lomonds.
  9. First report from my new location and it’s not a happy one. Wet, cold and miserable about sums it up. I don’t have my weather station set up yet so no figures to go with that but it was 3c when I left for work and 7c when I got home. West Lomond had snow and East Lomond didn’t so locally the snow level was just above 400m.
  10. Morning all, Ive not been online in a couple of weeks because I have been busy moving house! After 15 years of coastal living in the East Neuk and another 4 in Broughty Ferry I’m a coastie no longer. Now in Glenrothes. So a little wetter, colder in winter and warmer in summer. Less haar. And of course better snow prospects. While I wouldn’t consider Glenrothes a mecca for snow, it is compared to Pittenweem and I should be posting snow pics more regularly (my last were Feb 21!). I also have the Lomonds on my doorstep!
  11. Another foul day of easterly filth, as Klippie said. Not unusual in Spring but it’s never welcome and really grates after a couple of days. Temperature stuck on 6c.
  12. Well that’s a wrap on meteorological winter. My brief local wintry summary: 11 air frosts (4 Dec, 5 Jan, 2 Feb) 1 ice day No lying snow Nothing too surprising for my mild location. What’s been more notable is that on the back of a very wet October and November, it’s been a dreary 5 months of wind and rain. Certainly the most protracted spell of poor weather since I moved here in 2005.
  13. Another pleasant day, best weekend in some time. Missed an air frost as the low was +1c. Max 7.5c.
  14. Morning all, A fine start to the day and our second air frost of the month at -0.2c. -3c up the road at Leuchars. A decent day in prospect!
