Yes, the last 2 winters did see cold weather, but apart from a very cold december, the rest of the winter was unusually mild. Overall last winter was mild. We had more snow in 2009 than we did last december last year. For me it wasn't a particularly spectacular winter here in northampton. Now if we consistently had cold weather.... and snowfall for 2 months, that would be worth noting. The UK will never see sustained cold and snow, apart from once in a lifetime events like 1948 and 1963 and even these will become rarer in the future. Then again, if the dreaded gulf stream were to switch off, then we might start seeing some much welcomed cold winters. Probably won't happen though. We'll have to make do with the odd snowy day here and there I guess.
