I'd bank the weather here in Oldham for past few days. After cold start the sun gets to work quickly making the day feel very springlike. Long sunny periods and today looks like it's going the same way. I'm tempted to want it a little warmer, but it appears that may bring rain which is fine as long as it doesn't overstay it's welcome like it did last year and we get stuck in that wet Jetstream rut.
Me too D! We had rain earlier and I noticed that rainy smell (that's my technical name for it ) I haven't noticed that in a long while.

Yawnfest on here lol.
Temp 6c.
I feel the end is near.
But, I did take the dog out earlier and it was definitely nippy!
I do hope we get a decent summer, no rain, unless it's at night - it's OK then. Lots of sun, but not too hot either. I don't want much.

Can anyone remember the last time it rained, like proper rained, for a day? Just as noteworthy as the cold, which isn't all that noteworthy anymore other than for longevity, has been the dryness. Ploughed fields round here are ochre coloured, rather than a boggy mess, dust is blowing around on paths and the fields have got even browner. It's quite odd. When/if we do get a warm damp spell the transformation in the countryside should be pretty impressive.
Was it when it snowed and then rained straight after? Broke my poor little heart.

It doesn't know what to do here, sunny, cloudy, windy, just need rain now! NOT!!!!!!

In next 2-3 months we be complaining about rain and hot weather. Hoping for a hot Summer with temps of 35C +. If not the wettest Summer on record!!!!
Just been to Rivington and some of the snow drifts still lying there are still tall as a car!! Its been nearly two weeks ago too. If that happened in December or January the snow will lie here for months and we be gridlocked for weeks. I'm glad it happened at March because the snow usually melt quickly in 2-3 days on lower elevation.
Mmm, 35c+ or a wet summer, I wonder which one we're likely to get.

The wind is picking up here. The sun keeps popping out and then hiding and it's definitely nippy!

Brrrr. I thought it was gonna be lovely when I went out, ruddy cold when that sun isn't out!
-
It's been snowing for ages here but the bit we had on the paths and roofs is disappearing pretty quickly. Lovely big, fat flakes too!

Snow has been floating about on and off since 11ish. Just had a look and there's a slight and I do mean slight covering here.

Oldham Mountain Rescue have been busy this weekend http://www.facebook....T/photos_stream as have many emergency rescue teams helping those cut off in the most remote areas. Full admiration and appreciation for them.
Wow. Thanks for posting D! What an amazing job they do!

I'm quite surprised as to how much has actually gone off the paths here, what is left is like an ice-rink. I would def like more snow, I couldn't have cared less after the snow to rain event, but now it's still here, a top-up would be quite nice.

That must hurt!!!Well, well, well, there's no snow here at all, it is utterly sickening to see pictures 10 miles south of you buried in snow because it would have been like that up here if it weren't for the shadow effect which iv never witnessed before, it was truly bizarre, there was just a hole in the radar about 20x20 miles right over me, i was thinking yesterday it'll be alright because it'll fill in soon but no it stayed there for the whole of the day and night, this could have been the deepest snow iv witnessed imby since i was born. These are the pictures 10 to 20 miles south of me......

Anyway I'm off into the hills now...3-4 inches.... pffft....I want to see 3-4ft drifts!
We're off too! Not sure where yet though.

Am I remembering this correctly but all our main snowfalls this winter have happened on Fridays?

Yes, I'm sure Sparkle has mentioned that before too. :-)

Nice that you've managed to get some decent snowfall, most of the times your area misses out while it turns to snow in the east so the tables well and truly turned this time. Some of the pictures coming in the morning after the night before are incredible. Scan through social media twitter/facebook....http://www.facebook....&type=1 Yes those are actually the tops of cars there lol
OMG!
